After spending his first four seasons at GeorgiaCarson Beck is heading to Miami for his final year of college football.

Beck won back-to-back National Championships (2021 & 2022) as Stetson Bennett‘s backup and was named a Second Team All-SEC selection in 2023. In two seasons as Georgia‘s starter (2023 & 2024), he threw for 7,426 yards, 52 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He also led the Bulldogs to a 23-3 record before suffering a season-ending injury in the 2024 SEC Championship game against Texas.

The Jacksonville, FL native, who was On3’s No. 1 ranked player in the Transfer Portal, will be replacing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft Cam Ward.

David Pollack is a big Carson Beck fan

College football analyst David Pollack discussed Beck’s impact at Miami and pushed back on his doubters during the latest edition of his “See Ball Get Ball Podcast with David Pollack.”

“Let’s not forget, Carson Beck‘s a good player man,” Pollack said. “And I think a lot of people are going to look back that have hated on him and be like ‘got dang, this kid’s really good.’ Go look at him two years ago. When everything was good at Georgia. I’ve heard so many people say when you’re throwing to [Brock] Bowers and [Ladd] McConkey, yeah anybody can look good.

“No. With the anticipation that he has in getting the ball out and the quick trigger, he’s got some good things to him that I think with a good OC at Miami, he’s got the weapons in a league where they’re going to be more talented than people. I still think they’re gonna score a bunch of points and he’s going to be one of the best players in the league (especially at the quarterback spot). So I’m all in and I think he’s a good player. I’m a Beck fan.”

Joel Klatt however isn’t sold on Beck and his elbow

FOX’s Joel Klatt is on the opposite side of the spectrum from Pollack however, as he revealed that he indeed is one of Beck’s doubters.

Miami’s coming off a season where they were up 21 in the final regular season game at Syracuse, in a game that would have put them in the ACC Championship game and likely the Playoff. So, they were right there, up 21,” Klatt said. “I know Miami fans are like, ‘Don’t remind us.’ … The biggest question for Miami, at least in my estimation, is Carson Beck. This elbow situation is concerning. He didn’t throw in the spring, but began throwing in May.

“Now, you can tell me all you want, ‘I’ve seen him throw.’ He’s throwing fine in shorts and a t-shirt, but does he cut it loose? Can he cut it loose? Can he cut it loose off-platform? I’m concerned about that elbow.”

Beck and the Hurricanes open the 2025 season at home against Notre Dame on August 31.
