MJ Sherman explains commitment to Nebraska

This offseason, Nebraska added linebacker MJ Sherman as a transfer from Georgia. He was a major addition for the Cornhuskers after being a part of Georgia’s elite defense in back-to-back national championship seasons.
Now, Sherman has explained why he chose to commit to Nebraska.
“I mean, there’s not a concrete answer on why Nebraska,” MJ Sherman said. “But I understood that Nebraska is a team that’s fighting to make another impact on the college football world and I feel like I have the skills and everything about me that can help this team do that.”
Sherman played three seasons at Georgia and in 15 games during the 2022 season. He was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2020, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He still has two seasons of eligibility remaining at Nebraska.
“So, Coach [Matt] Rhule’s got a dream. I’ve got a dream as well. So, I just always want to win games and have an impact on this team as much as the college football world.”
MJ Sherman explained that his dream is for generational wealth and to “be the football player I always knew I could be.”

Despite this, Sherman admitted that he was anxious about the decision.
“I’m not gonna lie, I had high anxiety to the sense where it’s like okay, this is a new chapter of my life. I gotta do what I have to do to make the best of it,” Sherman said.
“But at the same token, those coaches, they helped me, guide me through the process, helped open up to myself to the point where it’s comfortable, and able to be the guy who I am.”
MJ Sherman is tapping into his potential
Now that he is at Nebraska, MJ Sherman believes that he is finally tapping into his potential. That’s largely because of the opportunity that’s going to be afforded to him at Nebraska.
“The opportunities. I’m not trying to be selfish or sound like I’m all about me or anything like that because I really do what to win games and win bowl games here and bring a lot of success here in this facility, which is absolutely deserved because of the work ethic of this team,” Sherman said.
“But yes, the opportunities that lay here were pretty convincing for me.”
