2025 S Jontae Gilbert commits to Ohio State

2025 Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass safety Jontae Gilbert announced his commitment to Ohio State on Friday. He shared the news over social media.
On3 does not rank or grade players prior to their sophomore season. Therefore, Gilbert does not have a ranking in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Gilbert is the first member of the Buckeyes’ 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-0, 161 pound defensive back has received four offers so far from Ohio State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh. Gilbert took an unofficial visit to the Buckeyes on June 9 and the Yellow Jackets on April 6.

Ohio State also has one prospect committed in its 2024 recruiting class in Chandler (Ariz.) five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Consensus. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class is ranked No. 2 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big Ten. The group is composed of two five-stars, 16 four-stars and one three-star.
Gilbert has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.7K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
