Kyle Monangai listed as questionable vs. Penn State

Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai was listed as questionable versus Penn State Saturday, according to NJ Advance Media.
Monangai was one of six starters listed as questionable for the Scarlet Knights. Penn State, which is coming off a loss to Michigan, looks to bounce back against Rutgers which is searching for its seventh win.
However, if Monangai can’t go, Rutgers will be down its top offensive weapon.
The junior running back leads the Big Ten in rushing with 181 carries for 942 yards, seven touchdowns and 5.2 yards per carry. Last season, he ran 109 times for 445 yards and two touchdowns.
As a member of the Class of 2020, Monangai was a three-star recruit out of Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 46 overall prospect in the state, the No. 153 running back in the class and the No. 1,915 overall prospect in the class.
Rutgers’ offense is predicated on running the football and Monangai emerged from a crowded backfield to take the starting gig in 2023.
With him at his best, Rutgers’ offense is certainly controlling of opposing defenses. But if Monangai can’t go, Penn State might have a field day with the Scarlet Knights’ attack.

Kyle Monangai ruled questionable vs. Penn State
It remains to be seen what happens with the Rutgers running back. If Monangai goes, Rutgers might have a better chance at an upset.
On the flip side of things,Penn State head coach James Franklin was well aware of what he wanted to see on senior day.
“Obviously, I hope a great one,” James Franklin said. “I hope it’s a great environment. I hope the fans show their appreciation for all the hard work that these guys have put in representing the university the right way both on and off the field. So, yeah, I would love for them to get a feel for the sense of appreciation that we have for them. Play well, get a win, all those things included.”
For any true seniors at Penn State, celebrating Senior Day after playing the last four seasons in Happy Valley, it’s been a very successful run. Penn State is 30-15 going into Senior Day over the last four seasons and won the Rose Bowl while finishing 7th in the country last season.
