Dawn Staley gushes over Sania Feagin's commitment: 'She probably should have transferred but she wanted to play to her standard'

Sania Feagin came to play in South Carolina‘s showdown against Texas in the SEC Tournament Championship on Sunday. Feagin concluded the third quarter with a dagger 3-pointer to give the Gamecocks a 52-33 lead. Heading into the final frame, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley raved about her senior forward.
“Proud. Proud. She stuck with us when it wasn’t popular,” Staley said. “You can see if she wants to play anything less than her standard, she probably should have transferred but she wanted to play to her standard, and she’s stepped up in a big way.
“We need her more than anything. She’s been holding it down with bigger, stronger, more-girth post players because she’s smart, and she’s talented, and she’s skillful and she’s utilizing all those things right now.”
Feagin finished the game with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists while shooting 5-7 from the field. Feagin scored double figures in all three of the Gamecocks’ outings in the SEC Tournament. For reference, she’s only averaging 8.0 points per game.
Sania Feagin will be key to South Carolina’s success in the postseason. The Gamecocks haven’t lost a game this season when the 6-foot-3 standout scores eight or more points. Instead of taking credit for her performance after South Carolina secured a 64-45 win over Texas on Sunday, Feagin praised her fellow Gamecocks.
“I trusted my teammates. They gave me the confidence. They told me to go out there and do what I got to do and I just do it,” Feagin said. “… It means a lot, just knowing this is my last one and we got it. We got the dub, y’all.”

Cotie McMahon calls out Iowa for ‘disrespectful’ behavior
Ohio State and Iowa women’s basketball showdowns never disappoint. Friday was no exception, with the Buckeyes squeaking out a 60-59 win over Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals. After the game, Ohio State star Cotie McMahon explained the heated nature between the two teams.
“I’m not gonna get into it all the way, but let’s just say they’re a little disrespectful as far as how they view us. So we take that personal. I take that personal,” McMahon said. “I like to fight on the court. I’m very — I have that dog in me, so I go out there and prove it.”
McMahon certainly proved it on Friday night. In the win, McMahon tallied a game-high 18 points while shooting 6-13 from the field. However, McMahon’s biggest moment in the game came at the free throw line.
With six seconds left and the Buckeyes down one point, McMahon was fouled while shooting. McMahon sunk both free throws, giving Ohio State a one-point lead late in the game and, ultimately, the win.
