JD PicKell: Predicting every game on Texas A&M's 2022 schedule

After bringing in the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class and some impact transfers, expectations for Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M are sky high. While the talent is evident, On3’s JD PicKell believes the Aggies are at least one more year away from seeing the type of results they want.

With a tough schedule in the SEC West which only promises to get tougher – and bring higher expectations at Texas A&M – with the pending arrival of Texas and Oklahoma, the clock is ticking to reach the top of college football. The Aggies open the season with three home games and a neutral site meeting in AT&T Stadium against conference foe Arkansas.

More on Texas A&M, 2022 schedule

As JD PicKell projects an 8-4 record for Texas A&M, the heat will certainly be on from the fanbase to produce another productive offseason which leads to improved on-field success in the coming years. While that record against the 2022 schedule would be an accomplishment for many, the Aggies aspire to join Alabama and Georgia in the class of teams favorited to win nearly every meeting regardless of the opponent.

The non-conference game against Miami should provide the first test of the season as they see Mario Cristobal’s new squad in Kyle Field. The following week brings the first projected loss against a revitalized Arkansas program led by Sam Pittman and a group of veteran leaders.

While the loss against Alabama in a rubber match of the 2021 upset would hurt their College Football Playoff resume, back-to-back losses against Florida and Auburn – two teams which faced offseason turnover and challenges in contrast to Texas A&M’s success – would be devastating.
