Texas A&M RB Le’Veon Moss has been sidelined for almost a month now after a leg injury suffered back on October 11th. Nothing about his timeline has changed since, though, when Mike Elko was asked for one on Monday.

During his press conference this afternoon, Elko said there was no updates timeframe for when the Aggies’ running back could return. However, A&M remains optimistic that he will be back in time for the postseason, with some chance he could return before the end of the regular season.

“No,” Elko said as far as a new timetable for Moss. “Not yet.”

“Yeah,” said Elko, when asked again as far as the chance he could be back before the regular season was over. “So, the timeline is still exactly what we anticipated from the beginning. It’s still too early to tell whether that’s going to move or not. So, you know, we’re hopeful that, by the end of the regular season, we’ll have a chance to get him back out there. Certainly, we feel very confident for anything beyond the end of the regular season, if that presents itself.”

Moss suffered the injury in the win three weeks ago over Florida. It wasn’t as serious as being season-ending, which could’ve been the second-straight season where he suffered such an injury, but it has caused him to miss the past two games, with the team coming off a bye week this past weekend, for the Aggies. They’ll now have four consecutive games between now and November 28th for him to try and make a return, with, assuming they continue the success they’ve had over the first two months going into the postseason, the SEC Championship scheduled for December 6th and the College Football Playoff set to begin, pending the seeding of a team, on December 19th.

In his six games this fall, Moss has posted 70 carries for 389 yards, averaging 64.8 yards per game and 5.6 per rush attempt, and six touchdowns on the ground. That makes him their second-leading rusher on the season now behind Rueben Owens, who has 78 carries for 440 yards and three touchdowns this season. Owens has since put up 20 rushes for 113 yards, averaging 56.5 yards per game and 5.7 per carry, with two touchdowns in Moss’ absence during their last two wins at Arkansas and at LSU.

Moss isn’t yet done for this season in College Station. Texas A&M just has yet to determine when he’ll make his return, with it sounding as though their focus is more so projecting on having him back and healthy for the postseason, with that chance still that he could be back sometime in the next three weeks, as of now.

“You know, it’s just still a little bit too early to tell how that will be and how it’ll respond,” Elko said.
