A new era of USC Trojans football is here, with head coach Lincoln Riley taking over and looking to revitalize the program. Brought along with him was quarterback Caleb Williams from the Oklahoma Sooners, instantly making one of the most dynamic head coach/quarterback dynamics in the country.

With the first day of USC practice occurring on Tuesday, a video emerged of Williams arriving at the practice facility. No pads were worn today by the Trojans but the quarterback had his helmet and jersey ready to go as he flashed a ‘Fight On’ sign to the media before running off.

You can watch the full sequence here.

Williams will enter spring practice as the starting quarterback for the Trojans. Even with Riley, considered one of the best offensive minds in college football, coming to Los Angeles, USC quarterbacks decided to transfer out. They knew if Williams was coming to town, he would have the starting role instantly locked down.

Breaking onto the scene as a true freshman last season during the Red River Showdown against the Texas Longhorns, Williams was a freshman All-American for his performances. Being able to have big plays through the air, defenses in the Pac-12 will be just as scared of the quarterback’s feet on a play-to-play basis. Not many in the country have the skillset he does.

Williams comes into the program with plenty of other transfers, with former Oklahoma wide receiver Mario Williams being one he is familiar with. The two have a connection from their time together in Norman and are hoping it once again translates while in Los Angeles. Riley made sure to stock up on skill position players to make things easier for his star quarterback.

USC has a long couple of months ahead of them with spring practice but all eyes will be on the season opener against the Rice Owls on Sept. 3. Conference play will begin just a week later, with a road game against the Stanford Cardinal being the first real test of the year.
