Waymond Jordan injury update: New details emerge on timeline after being carted off vs. Michigan

USC running back Waymond Jordan suffered an ankle injury in the Trojans’ 31-13 win over Michigan on Saturday and was ultimately carted off the field. On Sunday, CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported Jordan is expected to miss “at the very least multiple games.”
Before leaving the game on Saturday, Jordan recorded 11 carries for 39 yards. He boasts a team-high 576 rushing yards and five touchdowns this season on 88 carries. Jordan’s 576 rushing yards are the 17th most in the country.
Jordan wasn’t the only USC running back who left the game against Michigan with an injury. Trojans RB Eli Sanders was also carted off the field on Saturday. After the game, USC head coach Lincoln Riley said Sanders’ injury is feared to be season-ending.
With Jordan and Sanders both sidelined, USC turned to walk-on running back King Miller in the pivotal Big Ten showdown. Miller answered the call, erupting for a game-high 158 rushing yards and a touchdown.
For reference, Miller entered the game with 152 rushing yards this season. Lincoln Riley had nothing but compliments for the true freshman after the win.
“King was huge,” Riley said. “He stepped up and made big plays. That was obviously really important for us with the way it went down. This is just what he does in practice. He’s a hard worker. He’s a humble guy. He cares about this team a lot. And honestly, hell, we didn’t have anyone else. But he was awesome. The moment certainly wasn’t too big for him.”

Miller, who was an unranked recruit coming out of high school, has had no choice but to work hard at USC. Despite his stunning performance, Miller remained humble after the triumph.
“It was a dream come true,” Miller said. “My opportunity came today, and I’m just so grateful. … I just got out there and just listen to my coach, follow my rules and whenever I see green grass, just try and go get what I can.”
If Waymond Jordan and Eli Sanders’ injuries are long-term, Miller can expect to have many more opportunities to shine. Plenty of eyes will be on USC in Week 8 when it squares off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who comfortably defeated NC State this weekend.
USC will travel to South Bend for the showdown. The two storied programs have one of the most iconic rivalries in college football and King Miller could have a chance to etch his name into the history books. The game will kick off 4:30 p.m. PT on Saturday.
