Santa Clara transfer Tess Heal commits to Stanford

Santa Clara transfer Tess Heal announced her commitment to the Stanford Cardinals. Legendary Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer coach retired this offseason, and associate head coach Kate Paye was elevated to that position.
Heal, an Australia native, averaged 19.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists during her sophomore campaign. The 5-10 guard was named to the All-WCC first team in both her freshman and sophomore seasons and was the WCC Newcomer of the Year as a rookie.
Tess Heal set the program record for points scored with 663, started and scored double-figures in all 34 games and posted three 30-point contests.

Heal entered the transfer portal on March 25 and was reported to have taken a visit with the Cardinals on April 24.
Tess Heal is the Cardinals’ first transfer pickup of the offseason, but Stanford lost their best player to the portal. Junior Kiki Iriafen, who averaged 19.4 points and 11 rebounds last season, recently committed to in-state rival USC. Stanford will still have a few remaining roster spots open if they elect to use them through the transfer portal.
