Freshman quarterback Ty Snell leaving Lipscomb Academy (TN)

As an eighth grader, quarterback Ty Snell started for the Lipscomb Academy high school football varsity team. However, his stint with the Mustangs will be short-lived as he plans to leave the school.
According to The Tennessean’s Tyler Palmateer, Anthony Snell, Ty’s father, confirmed that the Class of 2029 QB will either continue his high school football career in Texas or Florida’s IMG Academy. Playing with the Ascenders makes sense, especially after Ty Snell spent his seventh-grade spring semester in Bradenton.
Ty Snell and his family moved to Tennessee five years ago. At Lipscomb, he completed 74 passes for 893 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions in five games, four of which he started.
In his first start for the Mustangs, he completed 15 passes for 176 in a victory against Montgomery Bell Academy. He also won his second start, tallying 15 completions for 241 yards and three touchdowns against Knoxville Catholic. Lipscomb Academy finished the season with two consecutive losses, leading to a 4-6 record.

While Snell has four years of high school football left, he is already receiving offers from prestigious college football programs. Marshall University was the first to extend an offer to him, followed by Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and defending CFP National Champions Ohio State. Ty Snell also received offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State, Memphis, Kennesaw State, and Southern Mississippi.
With Ty Snell leaving Lipscomb Academy, Cam Blivens will be the Mustangs’ starting quarterback for the 2025 Tennessee high school football season. Originally playing as Lipscomb’s freshman team quarterback, Blivens shifted to wide receiver and finished with 55 receptions for 835 yards. He finished with 223 yards and four touchdowns against Knoxville Catholic in the same game that Snell started.
Meanwhile, Ty Snell spent the offseason attending football camps sponsored by Ohio State, Kentucky, and Alabama. The 6-foot-2 quarterback posted about these activities on his X/Twitter account.
