Georgia commit Jae Lamar makes impact felt in return for Colquitt County (Ga.)

At one point in the Georgia high school football season, it looked like the chances of Georgia four-star running back commit Jae Lamar returning to the Colquitt County (Ga.) football team might’ve seemed bleak.
The senior running back for the second week in a row, however, has made his way back on the Packers and has made his impact felt in the process.
In Colquitt County’s 28-21 victory over Richmond Hill on the road, Lamar scored a touchdown and helped lift the Packers to their eighth win of the regular season ahead of the GHSA AAAAAA postseason.
Lamar didn’t play in Colquitt County‘s 18-17 victory over Valdosta several weeks ago when a report by DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell, reported that Lamar was no longer apart of the Packers’ football team.
“He is not with us right now, but hopefully down the road we can make something work,” Colquitt County head coach Sean Calhoun said to Rivals on Oct. 8 via text.
In seven games, Lamar has been a vital piece to the offensive puzzle for the Packers (8-2), with the senior rushing for a team-high 715 yards on 104 attempts and scoring 12 touchdowns. Last season Lamar rushed for 885 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.

In Lamar’s first game back in last week’s 45-28 win over Camden County, the running back exploded for 147 yards on seven touches and scored two twice.
“It was good for him to be with his, you know, all of his fellow seniors,” Calhoun told DawgsHQ after the win against Camden County. “Sometimes we just all need a little reset, and that’s what he needed. He’s responded really well. And I think he really, you know, I think it really kind of hit home, you know, that I guess football was kind of taken away from him, and because this is what he’s supposed to be doing. We’re just trying to make him a better football player, of course, but, you know, just make him a better person.”
Lamar committed to the Bulldogs back in late June and now will look to finish out his senior campaign strong as Georgia’s No. 11 ranked Colquitt County focuses on the playoffs up ahead.
