Georgia commit Jae Lamar no longer with Colquitt County (Ga.) football team

It looks like Colquitt County (Ga.) will be going the rest of the 2025 Georgia high school football season without a very important piece of their team.

According to a report by DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell, Georgia four-star running back commit Jae Lamar is no longer with the Packers’ football team, confirmed by head coach Sean Calhoun in the story. Rivals attempted to reach Calhoun via text, but had not received a response regarding Lamar’s standing with the football program.

“Unfortunately, he’s no longer with us,” Calhoun said to DawgNation regarding Lamar being with Colquitt County.

Lamar didn’t play in Colquitt County‘s 18-17 victory over Valdosta last week. Sophomore running back Jason Stephenson led the way on the ground with 111 yards on 15 carries.

In the previous six games, Lamar had been a vital piece to the offensive puzzle for the Packers (5-2), with the senior rushing for a team-high 568 yards on 97 attempts and scoring 10 touchdowns. Last season Lamar rushed for 885 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.

Lamar committed to the Bulldogs back in late June and how much Georgia just felt like the best spot for him when it came to making a decision on a college program.

“Georgia is where I feel I can be my best at,” Lamar said after his commitment in late June. “There are a lot of good people in that building. The people, my belief in how they will develop me, the coaching staff and the players made Georgia right for me. Everyone in that facility brings joy to my spirit. It is like I am home.”
