Illinois High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Nov. 3

The high school football playoffs began in Illinois last week, and the top programs in the Prairie State continue their quest for a state championship.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck. Below are the top 25 Illinois high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Nov. 3.

1. Mount Carmel Caravan

The Caravan started the Illinois high school football Class 8A state tournament with a 21-17 victory over Loyola Academy. Emmett Dowling’s 80-yard touchdown pass with six minutes left in regulation proved to be the winning score. Before that drive, the Mount Carmel defense stood their ground after the Ramblers intercepted a pass and downed it on the Caravan’s 15-yard line. Mount Carmel advances to the next round wherein Belleville East will face them on November 8.

2. East St. Louis Flyers

The Flyers’ season continues after a 63-7 beatdown of Plainfield East in the Class 6A state playoffs. East St. Louis scored six touchdowns on offense, courtesy of Myson Johnson-Cook, Ahmad Coleman, Kortez Rupert, Amir Tillman, Jamarion Flowers, and R’Mahja Saddler. Meanwhile, Ronnie Gomiller completed three punt return TDs. The Flyers will face Glenwood in the next round.

3. Brother Rice Crusaders

The Crusaders’ 57-0 shutout victory over Jefferson gives them a fantastic start in the Illinois high school football Class 7A state playoffs. Brother Rice’s second shutout win this season should give them momentum as they face Harry D. Jacobs in the following round.

4. Lincoln-Way East Griffins

The Griffins are off to a fantastic start in the Class 8A playoffs, blanking Adlai Stevenson 45-0. That victory improved Lincoln-Way East’s overall record this season to 8-2 and they will compete against Palatine in the next round.

5. Maine South Hawks

The Hawks dominated Downers Grove North to start the 2025 Illinois high school football Class 8A playoffs. Maine South will compete against Hinsdale Central in the next round.
