Illinois High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Nov. 17

The postseason continued in the Prairie State last week, and another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Illinois high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Nov. 17.

1. Mount Carmel Caravan

The Caravan dominated Lincoln-Way East in the Illinois high school football Class 8A quarterfinals. Mount Carmel scored 42 of their 48 points in the first half and never looked back. The Caravan will face Fremd in the semifinals on November 22.

2. East St. Louis Flyers

The Flyers completed a 49-0 shutout victory over Simeon in the Class 6A state quarterfinals. Reece Shanklin threw for 245 passing yards, while Ahmad Coleman rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Kortez Rupert caught five balls for 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, East St. Louis’ defense generated four sacks and two interceptions. The Flyers will face St. Laurence in the Class 6A semifinals on November 22.

3. Brother Rice Crusaders

The Crusaders dominated St. Charles North in the Illinois high school football Class 7A state quarterfinals 42-18. Brother Rice did the most damage in the second and third quarters, scoring 28 points. Next on their schedule is their semifinal showdown against Downers Grove North on the 22nd.

4. Lincoln-Way East Griffins

The Griffins’ season ended with a 48-7 loss to Chicago Mt. Carmel. They scored those points in the first quarter and were shut down by the Caravan defense. Lincoln-Way East finished their campaign with a 9-3 record, losing three of their last five games.

5. Nazareth Academy Roadrunners

The Roadrunners escaped with a 24-21 victory against Lake Zurich. Nazareth Academy erased a 21-9 halftime deficit by scoring 15 points in the final quarter. Jackson Failla completed two touchdown passes during the fourth-quarter comeback. The Roadrunners will battle Fenwick in the Illinois high school football Class 6A state semifinals on November 22.
