UCLA 4-star QB commit Madden Iamaleava transferring back to Long Beach Poly

UCLA four-star quarterback commit Madden Iamaleava is returning to Long Beach Poly (Calif.) to finish his senior season, according to a report from Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times.
Iamaleava has left Downey (Calif.) Warren High, where he began his high school career alongside his older brother and now Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava.
The brothers transferred to Long Beach Poly in the spring of 2022 ahead of Nico’s senior season, but quickly left and opted to return to Warren in the summer. Nico began his high school career as a freshman at Long Beach Poly. Madden is now set to finish his career with the Jackrabbits, though his eligibility is currently unknown, according to Sondheimer.
In his lone season as a starter for Warren last season, Madden Iamaleava threw for over 3,600 yards and 43 touchdowns against just four interceptions. In limited relief work as a sophomore, he still managed 675 yards and 10 TDs through the air.
Iamaleava played in Warren’s first game of the 2024 season, a 31-20 loss to Kamehameha (Hi.) on Aug. 23. He and fellow UCLA commit, wide receiver Jace Brown, were soon no longer on Warren’s roster. Brown is also reportedly transferring to Long Beach Poly.

Iamaleava committed to UCLA on May 25 and is the Bruins’ highest-ranked prospect pledged in the 2025 class. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is the No. 143 overall prospect, No. 11 QB and No. 11 player in California in the cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
According to a report from SBLive’s Tarek Fattal, Iamaleava’s father, Nic, has resigned from his position as defensive coordinator for Warren.
Both Warren and Long Beach Poly have opened the 2024 season 0-3. Warren is set to host Woodford County (Ky.) this Friday, while the Jackrabbits are idle and are set to return on Sept. 20 at home against Jordan.
