The commonwealth of Virginia is loaded with talent in the 2026 cycle. One of the top seniors making plays this fall is Oscar Smith wide receiver Travis Johnson.

the 6-foot-3 four-star prospect helped the Tigers win the VHSL Class 6 state title a season ago and is now looking to make it back-to-back this December. He played a key role in their latest win to improve to 2-1 this season last Saturday.

In a 33-20 victory over Indian River, Johnson hauled in seven receptions, tallying 175 yards and three touchdowns:

He got things rolling early in the first quarter, taking a quick pass from blue-chip junior quarterback Lonnie Andrews III to the house for a big 72-yard score. All three of Johnson’s touchdowns came in the first half.

The Tigers opened the season with a tough 17-0 loss to Gonzaga, the top-ranked program in D.C. It’s been right back to business since then, though. They trounced Warwick, a top-25 team in Virginia, 24-6 on Sept. 5 and then landed win No. 2 over Indian River after an early bye week.

When looking at the schedule moving forward, Oscar Smith is positioned for another big season. It is currently favored to win each of the seven games left on the docket, per the Massey Ratings. The Tigers are now the No. 4 team in Virginia heading into their next game against No. 13 King’s Fork this Friday.

Johnson will remain a catalyst on offense. The Michigan commit is now the No. 130 overall prospect, No. 15 wideout and No. 3 player in Virginia in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies.

He committed to Michigan on the Fourth of July, choosing the Wolverines over Penn State and South Carolina, among others. He’s currently the fifth highest-ranked commit in the fold for head coach Sherrone Moore and Co. to date. U-M has the No. 10 class nationally, per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

“It’s amazing to be a Michigan man,” Johnson told Rivals. “Michigan was the best fit for me.”
