Nebraska commit Trae Taylor speaks out on transfer rumors
Mundelein Carmel Catholic (Ill.) Rivals300 2027 quarterback Trae Taylor (Nebraska commit) made one thing very clear on Tuesday morning via X, formerly known as Twitter: He’s not transferring anywhere for his senior season.
The No. 4 ranked quarterback in the country and also fourth in the state of Illinois per the Rivals Industry Rankings addressed what he referred to as rumors about the four-star rated signal caller transferring out to another school.
“I’m not sure how any rumors get started but I’m not transferring to Mt. Carmel, Loyola, LWE, IMG or any other school. If I were to leave I’d be headed to Nebraska. But NO I’m not leaving @CorsairsFB or my head coach @Jmack37. I picked Carmel for way more than just football. And I’m a believer in grinding things out, not taking the easy road by transferring anywhere. Hope this clears up any rumors of me leaving Carmel.“
Taylor is coming off a tremendous junior campaign for the Corsairs, with the quarterback 81 percent of his passes (205 of 251) for 3,571 yards, 38 touchdowns and a mere three interceptions this past 2025 season.
The 6-foot-3, 187-pound quarterback committed to the Cornhuskers back in May of 2025 and in his early Tuesday morning post pointed to if he were to leave Carmel Catholic, he’d be headed to play for the University of Nebraska and no other high school.
