Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings - Dec. 3
The 14th set of Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings of the 2025 season has been released and IMG Academy (Fla.) remains at the top, with St. Frances Academy (Md.) and a new No. 3 in Southlake Carroll (TX) just behind them, respectively.
Georgia’s Carrollton cracks the Top 10 portion of the rankings after a 34-14 thrashing of Grayson last week. Corner Canyon, Brownsburg and Thomas County Central enter this week’s Top 25 rankings, with other teams around the country shuffled from 11-25.
Below are the top-25 teams in the Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected media and data companies. It includes Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced ranking.
1. IMG Academy Ascenders (Fla.)
The IMG Academy Ascenders (9-0) season is effectively over for 2025 as they announced last week that their rivalry game with No. 2 ranked St. Frances Academy (Md.) will not be rescheduled. What looked like a potential de facto national championship game goes to the way side as high school football fans won’t get to see what could’ve been between the two teams.
Their last game on the gridiron of the season, the Ascenders went back up to New Jersey for the second time this season and defeated Hun School, 31-13.
Now the question must be has IMG Academy done enough to maintain their No. 1 ranking for the rest of 2025 with just nine games?
2. St. Frances Academy Panthers (Md.)
St. Frances Academy (7-1) will get the chance after all to show the country that they’re the No. 1 team in the country when they take on Corner Canyon next week on Wednesday night in Baltimore for the first-ever Overtime Nationals high school football championship.
The Panthers’ most impressive win of the season was the opener when they cruised to a 42-13 thrashing of Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fla) at the Broward County Classic. The Panthers’ lone loss this season came when they traveled across the country to take on No. 1 St. John Bosco and narrowly lost in a 21-14 decision.
The Panthers latest win was a 35-0 defeat of Virginia’s No. 1 ranked The St. James Academy in Baltimore. With all the time off since Nov. 1, how will the Panthers fair against the Chargers, which will be coming off winning Utah’s Class 6A state championship?
3. Southlake Carroll Dragons (TX)
The Southlake Carroll Dragons (13-0) continued their dominant run of being Texas’ top high school football team as they defeated a very good Prosper team, 49-31, in last week’s Class 6A, Division II playoffs.
There’s not many offenses nationally that are scoring at the clip that the Dragons are, with Southlake Carroll averaging 50.3 points per game behind the play of Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda (3,749 yards, 39 touchdowns) guiding the offensive unit. Ohio State pledge Brock Boyd (80 catches, 1,271 yards) and Blake Gunter (60 catches, 1,089 yards) have both been playing well at wide receiver for the Dragons.
Southlake Carroll heads into the fourth round of the postseason against Guyer, second to last game before reaching Texas’ UIL state championships at AT&T Stadium.
4. Buford Wolves (Ga.)
Buford’s (13-0) took down one of the preseason favorites to win Georgia’s Class 6A state championship in Douglas County, dropping the Tigers in a 30-15 affair. Now the Wolves gear up to face the country’s winningest high school football program in the land in the Valdosta Wildcats.
Now Buford is just one victory away from reaching the GHSA Class 6A state championship game.
First victory to start the 2025 season was a meeting with No. 18 Milton, with the Wolves coming away with a 20-13 victory on national television. The Wolves then the following week hit the road to Savannah to face a very good Benedictine Military School squad and won by multiple scores. All of the impressive wins littered along the Wolves’ schedule leaves many wondering if Buford could be the team to beat for Georgia’s Class 6A state championship when it’s all said and done against potentially Carrollton (see further below).
5. Bishop Gorman Gaels (Nev.)
Ever since losing to No. 13 ranked Mater Dei back on Sep. 19, the Bishop Gorman Gaels (12-1) have won and shut out every team in their path except for two. The Gaels capped their 2025 season last week in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) Open Division championship, handily defeating Arbor View, 44-7.
The Gaels a few weeks ago was able to come away with a 14-0 win over the Santa Margarita Eagles, bouncing back from their lone loss of the season against Mater Dei (Calif.). Hawaii commitment Maika Eugenio ended his season with one of the top seasons for any passer in the state of Nevada, throwing for 2,760 yards and 37 touchdowns.
It was a forgone conclusion that the Gaels were destined to win another Nevada state championship, but that’s not the ultimate goal for this program as they always continue to remain in the national title picture.
6. Carrollton Trojans (Ga.)
Carrollton (Ga.) (13-0) now takes over having quite possibly the toughest roads to a state title of any team in the country.
The Trojans have barreled through the GHSA Class 6A playoffs with a 34-14 victory over Grayson to advance into this week’s state semifinals against Georgia’s No. 7 ranked North Gwinnett.
Playing some of the best ball out of any running back in the entire country is senior Cameron Wood, who has rushed for 1,362 on 152 carries and scoring 31 touchdowns. Freshman signal caller Christian Cypher has been terrific in taking over for Julian Lewis, throwing for 1,952 yards, 25 touchdowns and only three mere interceptions.
7. Edna Karr Cougars (La.)
The Edna Karr Cougars (12-0) just keeps winning games with no doubt in question as they rolled by Louisiana’s No. 11 ranked Evangel Christian Academy, 49-20. Now the Cougars advance to the LHSAA Division I Select state semifinals to face Catholic this week.
Edna Karr earlier this season finally broke through into the Top 10 of the Rivals Composite rankings after they soundly defeated St. Augustine, 42-21. The Cougars also owns an impressive wins over Florida’s American Heritage, 24-17, from earlier in the season when they met in New Orleans and versus New Orleans Jesuit, a 41-0 decision.

There’s not many defenses that feature the kind of star power the Cougars do across the board. Edna Karr’s front seven is led by LSU four-star defensive tackle commit Richard Anderson and the secondary is stacked with Division I talent.
8. Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles (Calif.)
Making their way in after a masterful performance in the CIF Southern Section Division I championship game is the Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles (10-3).
In Carson Palmer‘s first year at the helm of his alma mater, the former NFL quarterback returned to where he started his journey as a footballer and helped lift Santa Margarita Catholic into national prominence.
Leading his club to a 42-7 thrashing of No. 10 Centennial was one of the latest pieces of evidence one may need in wondering could this team quite possibly be the best three-loss high school football team we’ve seen in recent memory?
Don’t forget, Palmer and crew have one more game remaining against No. 16 De La Salle for the state’s overall championship on Dec. 13th.
9. Allen Eagles (TX)
Outside of an early scare in the UIL, Class 6A, Division I playoffs, the Allen Eagles (13-0) have proven themselves as the next most consistent team in the state next to Southlake Carroll.
The Eagles made easy work of Permian last week in a 56-13 drubbing and now shift their focus to this week’s mega matchup against the defending state champion No. 13 North Crowley.
Allen has used a very effective two-quarterback system between senior Jeremiah Daoud and freshman Ty Snell, which has worked wonders this season. Between the two signal callers, they have combined to throw for nearly 3,600 yards and 35 touchdowns this season.
10. Centennial Huskies (Calif.)
The Centennial Huskies (11-2) came up short of their goal to win the CIF Southern Section Division I championship game, falling to No. 8 ranked Santa Margarita Catholic at the Rose Bowl.
Despite the loss, Matt Logan and the Huskies come away with plenty of positives from a season that saw the program reach the Southern Section final for the first time since 2015.
Centennial’s defense proved throughout the season to be one of the country’s best, behind the play of senior three-star linebacker Jonathan McKinley (Cal commit) and junior defensive lineman Miles Schirmer, who has overtures from programs like Notre Dame, Texas, Washington and USC, lead a very talented defensive front. On offense, quarterback Dominick Catalano led a potent offensive attack, finishing throwing for 2,187 yards and 19 touchdowns this fall.
