Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings - Nov. 5

The 10th set of Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings of the season has been released and there’s a new No. 1 team at the top of the ranks: IMG Academy (Fla.).

Right behind the Ascenders are the St. Frances Academy (Md.), after they routed The St. James Academy (Va.) 35-0 in Baltimore. Previous No. 1, St. John Bosco (Calif.), drops to No. 3 in this week’s latest set of rankings.

Who else cracks the latest set of national high school football composite Top 25 rankings this week?

Below are the top-25 teams in the Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected media and data companies. It includes Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced ranking.

1. IMG Academy Ascenders (Fla.)

The IMG Academy (9-0) have been the most dominant, consistent football program out of the Sunshine State and now they take over the top ranking in the country. In their latest game on the gridiron, the Ascenders went back up to New Jersey for the second time this season and defeated Hun School, 31-13.

IMG Academy closes out the regular season with No. 2 ranked St. Frances Academy (Md.) in the finale. The rivalry game versus the Panthers could be dubbed the Game of the Year in high school football. Maybe in many people’s eyes, the national high school championship game because of the abundance of talent and wins both teams possesses from the season.

2. St. Frances Academy Panthers (Md.)

St. Frances Academy (7-1) was arguably the most impressive team after the first major weekend of high school football, as they cruised to a 42-13 thrashing of Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fla) at the Broward County Classic. The Panthers’ lone loss this season so far came when they traveled across the country to take on No. 1 St. John Bosco and narrowly lost in a 21-14 decision.

The Panthers moved up in this week’s latest set of rankings after a 35-0 defeat of Virginia’s No. 1 ranked The St. James Academy this past weekend and it’s now followed up with a highly anticipated meeting with rival IMG Academy (see above).

3. St. John Bosco Braves (Calif.)

St. John Bosco (9-1) couldn’t remain the top team in the land for the eighth straight week in a row, according to the Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings, after a 36-31 loss to No. 8 ranked Mater Dei on Halloween.

The Braves have otherwise been nothing less than impressive throughout the regular season, with impressive victories along the way over St. Frances Academy (Md.) and St. Louis (HI), respectively. Texas A&M commit Madden Williams has been terrific for St. John Bosco this 2025 campaign, catching 35 passes for 712 yards and eight touchdowns. Another player that’s had a huge season is sophomore quarterback Koa Malau’ulu, who has thrown for 2,002 yards and 30 scores.

St. John Bosco opens the CIF Division I playoffs next week against an always dangerous Orange Lutheran club.

4. Grayson Rams (Ga.)

Grayson (9-0) has throughly dominated its last seven opponents, winning by a combined 342-41. All the Rams have gone out and done is win important games against regional powers like Alabama’s Thompson and a 63-13 rout of Mallard Creek (N.C.), respectively. Junior signal caller Deuce Smith has taken the controls of the offense for Grayson and has played admirably behind center.

The Rams begin Georgia’s GHSA Class 6A postseason against Norcross next Friday on Nov. 14.

5. Buford Wolves (Ga.)

Buford’s (10-0) has really created the feel that they could be the best team in the Peach State and their latest win, a 35-3 win over Mill Creek, the previous No. 23 ranked team in Georgia.

First up to start the season was a meeting with No. 18 Milton, with the Wolves coming away with a 20-13 victory on national television. The Wolves then hit the road to Savannah to face a very good Benedictine Military School squad and won by multiple scores. The 65-21 rout of Roswell a few weeks ago leaves many wondering if Buford could be the team to beat for Georgia’s Class 6A state championship when it’s all said and done against Grayson (see above).

The Wolves begin the 6A playoffs next week against Richmond Hill at home on Nov. 14.

6. Southlake Carroll Dragons (TX)

The Southlake Carroll Dragons (10-0), which has played the most impressively and consistently of any high school football team out of Texas, remains the top Lone Star State team in the national high school football rankings.

There’s not many offenses nationally that are scoring at the clip that the Dragons are, with Southlake Carroll averaging 51.9 points per game behind the play of Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda (2,936 yards, 29 touchdowns) guiding the offensive unit. Blake Gunter has been playing well at wide receiver for the Dragons, catching 47 passes for 915 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Southlake Carroll closed the regular season out with a 49-3 rout of Keller Central last week.

7. Bishop Gorman Gaels (Nev.)

Ever since losing to No. 13 ranked Mater Dei back on Sep. 19, the Bishop Gorman Gaels (9-1) have won and shut out every team in their path. The Gaels have totaled five straight shutout wins as they approach the Nevada state playoffs.

The Gaels a few weeks ago was able to come away with a 14-0 win over the Santa Margarita Eagles, bouncing back from their lone loss of the season against Mater Dei (Calif.). Hawaii commitment Maika Eugenio has been terrific on the offensive side of the ball, throwing for 2,469 yards and 33 touchdowns on the season.

It is a forgone conclusion that the Gaels are destined to win another Nevada state championship, but that’s not the ultimate goal for this program as they continue to remain in the national picture. Bishop Gorman has run the regular season slate of games and won’t play again until the start of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) playoffs kick off on Nov. 14 versus Foothill.

8. Mater Dei Monarchs (Calif.)

Well look has made their way back into the Top 10 after a huge win on the road against a rival that was previously the No. 1 team in the country: Mater Dei (7-2).

Mater Dei pulled off a gritty, 36-31, win over St. John Bosco last week at Panish Family Stadium to vault themselves back into the mythical national championship conversation.

The Monarchs this season has edged out St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) at the Broward County High School Football Classic down in Fort Lauderdale, pulling off a 26-23 victory to start the 2025 season. The Monarchs had to do it again a couple weeks later in a 21-18 win over Kahuku (Hawaii) and also owns a impressive road win over No. 7 Bishop Gorman (see above). Mater Dei gets this week off before starting the postseason next week against No. 19 ranked Mission Viejo in the first round of the CIF Division I playoffs.

9. Edna Karr Cougars (La.)

The Edna Karr Cougars (9-0) once again flexed their proverbial muscle when they rolled to a 48-26 win over previously unbeaten John Curtis (7-1) last week.

Edna Karr earlier this season finally broke through into the Top 10 of the Rivals Composite rankings after they soundly defeated St. Augustine, 42-21. The Cougars also owns an impressive wins over Florida’s American Heritage, 24-17, from earlier in the season when they met in New Orleans and versus New Orleans Jesuit, a 41-0 decision.

There’s not many defenses that feature the kind of star power the Cougars do across the board. Edna Karr’s front seven is led by LSU four-star defensive tackle commit Richard Anderson and the secondary is stacked with Division I talent.

10. Centennial Huskies (Calif.)

The Centennial Huskies (9-1) received a little bit of a scare in a couple week’s ago in a wild 59-49 victory over a upset-minded Norco group. Despite the close decision, the Huskies remain optimistic about their chances of competing for the CIF’s Open Division state championship because of the myriad of talent they possess within their front seven defensively.  

Both senior three-star linebacker Jonathan McKinley (Cal commit) and junior defensive lineman Miles Schirmer, who has overtures from programs like Notre Dame, Texas, Washington and USC, lead a very talented defensive front. On offense, quarterback Dominick Catalano leads a potent passing attack, throwing for 1,836 yards and 17 touchdowns this fall.

Centennial closed out regular season last week when they rolled to a 60-29 romp of Chaparral. The Huskies begin their quest to win a California Open Division title next week when they take on Servite.
