Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings - Oct. 22

The ninth set of Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings of the season has been released, with St. John Bosco Braves for the sixth consecutive week hanging out atop at No. 1. Right behind St. John Bosco is IMG Academy (Fla.) followed by St. Frances Academy (Md), which the pair are scheduled currently to square off on Nov. 7 in Bradenton.
Who else cracks the latest set of national high school football composite Top 25 rankings this week?
Below are the top-25 teams in the Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected media and data companies. It includes Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced ranking.
1. St. John Bosco Braves (Calif.)
For the sixth straight week in a row, the St. John Bosco Braves (8-0) are the No. 1 team in the land according to the Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings.
The Braves have been nothing less than impressive through the first eight weeks of the season, with impressive victories along the way over St. Frances Academy (Md.) and St. Louis (HI), respectively. Texas A&M commit Madden Williams has been terrific for St. John Bosco this season, catching 35 passes for 712 yards and eight touchdowns. Another player that’s had a huge season is sophomore quarterback Koa Malau’ulu, who has thrown for 1,773 yards and 27 scores.
The final two games will be no cake walk whatsoever for the Braves as they take on Servite and No. 11 ranked Mater Dei on Halloween. Spooky season is here.
2. IMG Academy Ascenders (Fla.)
The IMG Academy (7-0) have been the most dominant, consistent football program out of the Sunshine State, though the Ascenders were in a battle last week not far from home. The Ascenders finally got to play in front of their home crowd and defeated NFL Academy, 41-24, at IMG Stadium.
IMG Academy closes out the regular season with three of the top teams from their respective states, as Illinois’ No. 1 ranked East St. Louis comes into town on Saturday before the Ascenders fly back up north to face Hun School in New Jersey.
3. St. Frances Academy Panthers (Md.)
St. Frances Academy (5-1) was arguably the most impressive team after the first major weekend of high school football, as they cruised to a 42-13 thrashing of Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fla) at the Broward County Classic. The Panthers’ lone loss this season so far came when they traveled across the country to take on No. 1 St. John Bosco and narrowly lost in a 21-14 decision.
The Panthers stayed pat in this week’s latest set of rankings after a 29-7 defeat of New Jersey power, Hun School. A game we’re really looking forward to however is on Nov. 1 when the Panthers face Virginia’s No. 1 ranked The St. James Academy followed by a highly anticipated meeting with rival IMG Academy (see above).
4. Buford Wolves (Ga.)
Buford’s (8-0) kept the good times rolling and easily cruised in last week’s 75-0 romp of Central Gwinnett.
First up to start the season was a meeting with No. 18 Milton, with the Wolves coming away with a 20-13 victory on national television. The Wolves then hit the road to Savannah to face a very good Benedictine Military School squad and won by multiple scores. The 65-21 rout of Roswell a few weeks ago leaves many wondering if Buford could be the team to beat for Georgia’s Class 6A state championship when it’s all said and done against Grayson (see below).
The Wolves finish up the regular season with contests against Mountain View and Mill Creek, the No. 22 ranked team in Georgia.
5. Grayson Rams (Ga.)
Grayson (7-0) has throughly dominated its last five opponents, winning by a combined 263-26. All the Rams have gone out and done is win important games against regional powers like Alabama’s Thompson and a 63-13 rout of Mallard Creek (N.C.), respectively. Junior signal caller Deuce Smith has taken the controls of the offense for Grayson and has played admirably behind center.
The Rams are coming off a bye week as they return to action this Friday night against South Gwinnett.
6. Bishop Gorman Gaels (Nev.)
Bishop Gorman (8-1) notched their third straight blowout victory, this time a 44-0 defeat of winless Somerset Academy Losee (0-9).
The Gaels a few weeks ago was able to come away with a 14-0 win over the Santa Margarita Eagles, bouncing back from their lone loss of the season against Mater Dei (Calif.). Hawaii commitment Maika Eugenio has been terrific on the offensive side of the ball, throwing for 2,188 yards and 28 touchdowns on the season.
It is a forgone conclusion that the Gaels are destined to win another Nevada state championship, but that’s not the ultimate goal for this program as they continue to remain in the national picture. Bishop Gorman should run the table the rest of the way to a 9-1 regular season record as they face instate competition. The Gaels close out the 2025 Nevada high school football season against the state’s No. 6 ranked team, Shadow Ridge.
7. Southlake Carroll Dragons (TX)
The Southlake Carroll Dragons (8-0), which has played the most impressively and consistently of any high school football team out of Texas, remains the top Lone Star State team in the national high school football rankings.

There’s not many offenses nationally that are scoring at the clip that the Dragons are, with Southlake Carroll averaging 52.6 points per game behind the play of Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda (2,431 yards, 25 touchdowns) guiding the offensive unit.
Up next for Southlake Carroll is a road tilt against Bell (5-2).
8. Centennial Huskies (Calif.)
The Centennial Huskies (7-1), which most recent win was a 48-20 defeat of Murrieta Valley, heads into its final two regular season games with a chance to finish 9-1. The Huskies are optimistic about their chances of competing for the CIF’s Open Division state championship because of the myriad of talent they possess within their front seven defensively.
Both senior three-star linebacker Jonathan McKinley (Cal commit) and junior defensive lineman Miles Schirmer, who has overtures from programs like Notre Dame, Texas, Washington and USC, lead a very talented defensive front. On offense, quarterback Dominick Catalano leads a potent passing attack, throwing for 1,349 yards and 14 touchdowns this fall.
Centennial hits the road this week to face Norco.
9. Edna Karr Cougars (La.)
The Edna Karr Cougars (7-0) outside of a couple games has gone mostly untested, with their most recent win being a 41-0 rout of New Orleans Jesuit.
Edna Karr finally broke through into the Top 10 of the Rivals Composite rankings after they soundly defeated St. Augustine, 42-21. The Cougars also owns an impressive win over Florida’s American Heritage, 24-17, from earlier in the season when they met in New Orleans.
There’s not many defenses that feature the kind of star power the Cougars do across the board. Edna Karr’s front seven is led by LSU four-star defensive tackle commit Richard Anderson and the secondary is stacked with Division I talent.
The Cougars faces Warren Easton this Friday, a week ahead of a major matchup with an undefeated John Curtis group.
10. Sierra Canyon Trailblazers (Calif.)
The third team out of the great state of California in the latest Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings within the Top 10 ranks are the unbeaten Sierra Canyon Trailblazers (8-0).
The Trailblazers are setting themselves up for an undefeated regular season at 10-0 after blowing by Notre Dame, 45-10, last week.
Senior quarterback Laird Finkel has been the steady hand behind center, thrown for 1,853 yards and 14 touchdowns this fall. Leading the team defensively is senior EDGE Richard Wesley (Texas pledge), who has a team-high 11.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
Sierra Canyon is back on the gridiron this Friday versus Bishop Amat (5-3).
