Too late but should have hired Kiffin two years ago. I can see why Byrne picked Kalen but he wasn’t the best choice.

If Kiffin comes through Tuscaloosa it will be passing through on train. He will never coach here and I’m glad he won’t.

Cignetti has a massive buyout (15 million) and is contractually required to get a raise to be, at worst, the 3rd highest coach in CFB going forward. He’s also 65 years old. Indiana will be the last school he coaches.

Ole Miss just accomplished a bigger win without Kiffin than they ever did with him. Cig isn’t going anywhere, he has Mark Cuban money at IU.

Why would Kiffin have been a better hire than Deboer? What has he done that Deboer hasn't? Kiffin is the hot name right now because he elevated Ole Miss but Deboer did the same at Washington. Kiffin has been fired as a HC multiple times. He's not a sure thing any more than Deboer is.

Cig as HC and DeBoer can be retained as WR coach.

It looked like men against boys I think that was what Cignetti did. Went out and got tough guys who who big ,older, more experienced especially along OL and Front Seven Maybe didn't worry about holding strictly to measureables or how "athletic" some of them looked as long as they could block, tshed blocks and make tackles. I didn't see any small undersized guys that he brought from JMU out there except maybe a couple RBs or WRs who could actually catch footballs and run for yardage.

I guess I need more insight as to how Cuban’s money, when used to purchase mediocre (out of high school) recruits/players, is what made the difference for IU. It’s not like they loaded up with former 5 star transfers. That IU staff can spot undervalued talent, and can coach them once they’re there.

Could we not have hired Cignetti, at the time? I know he had just moved to Indiana (the prior month - December of 2023)…but you’ve gotta think Bama could have persuaded him…and offer him double what he was getting at Indiana. Would have been MUCH easier to do, considering he was inheriting a 3-9 Indiana team…and look what he was able to accomplish, with a group of 3 star players. SMDH EDIT: watching his intensity yesterday reminded me so much of Saban…he definitely wouldn’t have been considered a “splash hire”…but we could’ve had very little dropoff (if any), had Cignetti been the replacement for Saban. We would still look and feel like an Alabama football team!

How so? Cignetti just performed a Saban on us and handed us our worst post season loss in the HISTORY of Alabama Football and our worst loss since 1998 with less talent. You saying you wouldn’t take Cignetti right now?

Not sure how anybody could watch that game yesterday, and still feel like we have the BEST coaching staff. Reminds me of the Bobby Bowden situation in the 1980’s.

I think we could have,if I remember the time frame correctly I remember they were about to fire the head coach in our area back then, and saying tomy friends who are the local team's fans that they should hire this guy Cignetti at JMU. I said I'd once talked to him once and he sounded like he only was only interested in tough guys.I didn't know how to describe him except that he had an obnoxious way about him comparable to my cousin that they all knew but he has been winning at JMU against teams that were supposed to beat him.. Of course they never heard of him and blew of that suggestion immediately

This fanbase would have gone totally off the rails if Cig was hired to replace Saban.

Until they saw the disciplined, Saban-esque team that he put on the field. Sigh.
