Brohm is a good coach

I have some questions but he's a terrific offensive mind. I have zero doubt you'd see some of the most explosive offenses since peak Moeller if he got the job.

The defenses would be a sieve.

This is a ridiculous assumption. Brohm would be able to upgrade his defensive coaching staff and roster significantly at Michigan.

To be fair to him he hasn't coached at a program with the talent level even close to Michigan. He would have to hire an elite DC obviously.

He is a good coach but shouldn't be in consideration for top level blue blood jobs. His name has not been mentioned for any of the top tier jobs, yet here we are trying to rationalize him here. If we didnt have incompetent or manipulative leadership, we'd have a coach who would have been discussed for a top level job. Also his staff doesnt scream energetic, creative coaches. Alot of retreads

He’d still be a big upgrade over what we had.

A lot of people on here are getting lost in the sauce with program/board/AD/whatever drama so we are debating Brohm as a proxy for that.

Why do we think he'd upgrade his staff? English was his Purdue DC and he brought English to Louisville with him. Why wouldn't he bring him back to Ann Arbor?

Clearly he is a good coach as he makes a lot of money to do it. He is probably a top 25 coach in college football. Michigan should get a top 5-6 coach in football. At least a top 10 coach, he is not top 10.

That is the question. Of course, Michigan has a lot more $$ to hire a top DC than Purdue or Louisville.

Yeah, but he doesn’t care about defense and is a horrible culture fit. Sound like any other coach from our past to you?

It's been reported elsewhere that Brohm just doesn't care about defense. Then you Derrick Barnes, who was a defensive captain at the same time Brohm was at Purdue, said he didn't talk to Brohm once when he on the St. Brown Podcast

The reality is… Brohm is a hire most don’t want so I don’t really care what he could do with a defense here. There has got to be others that are going to be added to our list (hopefully).

He's a top 20ish coach. How would he do at a program with top resources and expectations? That is the unknown.

Hard pass. Purdue and Louisville are one thing, Brohm is not Michigan caliber. And he brings that buffoon English with him, the team will make the Rich Rod years seem like the good times.
