Self said he wasn’t sure if he would return in his postgame. That would really make life harder on UNC. Which job do you guys think is better, and why?

Both are the bluest of blue bloods and both are top 5 jobs in college hoops.
i would say that UNC is a little better…. Just outside looking in.
there may be factors that we aren’t privy to that could make KU the better job, but UNC might be the best college basketball job in America.

I lean Carolina …
Michael Jordan, proximity to talent along the east coast, elite history, everything is built there to win
But I will say this - Phog Allen Field House is one of the greatest atmospheres in all of sports - that place is incredible

That is tier 1. These three are separate from the others.

Kansas doesn’t have a person associated with their program like MJ is with UNC. His brand is gonna be associated with that school for forever. I think UNC’s better for that alone and that’s saying something cause Kansas is amongst the bluest of blue-bloods.

But Kansas had a long dry spell after Wilt left in the 50’s and Carolina started rolling with Dean and hasn’t stopped. Almost 60 years, so I would say it’s the better job.Kansas doesn’t have a person associated with their program like MJ is with UNC. His brand is gonna be associated with that school for forever. Between Golden, Oats and Byington in the SEC I wonder if one of them gets one of those jobs. Oats and Golden are such ***holes and I don’t think Byington has earned a job that big yet. Wouldn’t be surprised if Otzelberger ends up at Kansas.

I would probably rank UNC ahead of Kansas. One other thing to consider is UNC has an arch rival that adds more pressure to that UNC job. If the North Carolina coach isn’t getting it done at a high level, but Duke is, that makes it tougher on Carolina’s coach. You don’t really have that at Kansas.

RDVOL said:This. you could go 30-4 at UNC and get a #2 seed but Duke is less than 30 miles down the road and goes 32-2 and gets a #1 seed. Carolina fans aren't happy being behind Duke and the coach hears about that. Kansas doesn't have that. Trust me people at KU don't even consider KState as a rival. They just see them as an obligation that they have to play. KU cares more about Missouri and that is no where near the level of UNC/Duke as far as pressure goes.I would probably rank UNC ahead of Kansas. The top 3 are UNC, Kansas and Kentucky.
Duke exists alone at 4. Their facilities kinda suck, their fan base is almost non existent in their own state but they have a bandwagon and always win…..it’s really Miami football on steroids.

I would lean Kansas. Easier to win in basketball when you don’t play in the ACC. Also Kansas does not have to recruit against the ACC and SEC in the same region.

Tier 1:
Duke
UNC
Kansas
Kentucky
UCONN
UCONN has won 6 national championships since 1999 and that is a football first school. They tried to invest in football for a few years at the expense of mens basketball and they quickly pivoted. They also just kept their coach away from the Los Angeles Lakers and Kentucky if that shows you were their financial muscle is at.
