I sure hope Stokes wants to play with Kinney! Both Kentucky Natives, Stokes from Louisville and Kinney from Newport (Cincinnati Suburb). Both Players selected for 2026 McDonald's All American Game! Rock Chalk!!

So it's about money? enjoy the sport now and then worry about the money as you go thru your adult working life.

If the Hawks wnat top guys this is the reality. I wonder if Booth being in town Monday had anything to do with this. Pure guess on my end.

The huge NIL on one guy has worked out so well for KU and BYU this year…..

I know we have NIL avenues for superstar players from Adidas. I wonder how Stokes fits into that? Does he change from Nike to Adidas if he signs with KU? Would Adidas still be willing to pony NIL for Stokes just to see the Kansas/Adidas brand flourish despite Stokes having an Nike contract? Don't see how we can afford a good roster under just the revenue share if his entire salary comes out of rev share so there must be some sort of NIL avenues at KU for these top 5 high school players to make it work. And then let's not forget about Mr. Tiller. He is going to command high dollar next year. If we can afford both it would be fantastic. I would take Tiller over Stokes if we have to pick, but since we are going all out for Stokes there must be a way to make it work for both. I am sure we are already negotiating with Bryson as well.

I don’t have a good feeling about Stokes at all. He seems to be the complete opposite of Kinney when it comes to personality. I know we want an elite guy for the class but we need money for at least one big guy. Flory probably gone after this year. Paul nowhere close to playable yet. Tiller is going to need to get paid well.

Maybe get Tiller to sign with Adidas!

If they reach a deal with Stokes, hope it includes some provisions related to playing time.

I wouldn't spend the money all on one player. Pay Tiller well, go get players like Melvin and Tre and pay to keep Elmarko

I dont want Stokes feels like it could turn into another DP situation. We can get someone big in the portal that can fit better, he is a great basketball player but do we want back to back years with a headache player.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see something like this take place.

I’ve always thought if you could get kids from the Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio area you are assuredly getting a high IQ, tough nosed basketball player. It’s kind of like getting a PG from the New York/Jersey area. The players in those areas grow up eating and sleeping basketball.

It helps to get the top talent because it catches the attention of future talent who may then strongly consider that school. See Duke and UK, for example.

I still think Flory is in play to come back.

This. Make it hard for him to want to enter and stay in the draft. He's a fringe second rounder right now. I'd think we can compete with that. So, I'd prefer to make Flory & Tiller extremely happy then breaking the bank on a HS recruit.

In play sure, but he is getting some buzz as a late 1st rounder, if just one team late in the round gives him a guarantee, you have to take it.

With players like Flory, Tiller (who is just starting to scratch the surface) and El Marco who is just a soph and a HS AA, I would make sure these guys are locked up before dropping my entire budget on one guy who will be here one year. I don't know what Tre and the Dog cost us, but probably no more than the flops we had last year. Build with young guys and fill in with an NIL vet or 2 to fill specific needs (which we have). Bill may have an immediate plan for Stokes so he will decide. Just hope we can still lock up guys who are good and know the system.

You may be correct on the first-round selection. But I can't see how a guy who has no offensive game has much NBA potential. He'll just ride the bench. Does Udoka play?

I mean, he is who he is, ride the bench and make 14 million over 4 years doesn't seem too bad, only so many players can be superstars.

We only have so much to offer if KU is still set on only doing in-house revenue share without an outside collective.

I don't see him sniffing the first round on any legit mock draft sites. He's not even mentioned in most second round draft boards

Are you trying to say that the only dime going into players pockets is from revenue share directly from the KUAD??

Adidas for DP. KU uses Walz Tetrick for outside sponsorship deals, but I would be surprised if those amount to much. We don't have an NIL collective, and that was by KUs design. Maybe they will re-evaluate, but I believe the concern was having enough money to pay our full RevShare first. Our TV deal brings in much, much less than P2.
