My Jasper source texted me late last night told me Pope is eyeing former NBA player Jamal Crawford to replace Jason Hart. He has 20 years playing in the NBA, major connections in the AAU circuit and would be working with the guards on a day-to-day basis as far as practice goes. He thinks he may be the key to landing some of these high school kids. I didn't notice until he pointed it out, but Jasper has issues dribbling to his right. He thinks Crawford can help with this, among other things. He also said those wanting Rondo on staff in some capacity can keep dreaming. Pope isn't going to touch him with his legal issues. Apparently, he was seen at the state tournament wearing an ankle monitor. 🤷‍♂️ Whether the Crawford rumor has legs or not, it's fun to speculate. Would certainly like to know if there's any smoke here. Curious if KSR staff has heard this name being thrown around. @JackPilgrim @JacobPolacheck @AdamLuckett

How is Crawford involved with the AAU and/or coaching? Just based on the name and his success I think he’d be a nice get

What is the Stokes connection? I love Rajon Rondo, arguably my favorite player of all time right there with Tayshaun, but I wouldn’t touch him as far as having him on the staff. He’s a certified genius when it comes to the game of basketball but he’s also a certified bonehead off the court.

This would be a hell of a pull -- and also put you right back in the conversation for Tyran Stokes. Pope would deserve a ton of credit for pulling something like this off.

He did say odds of this happening are 50/50 right now. But I mean isn't that everything in life? It is or it isn't,

He definitely coaches at Ranier, his son plays there.

Ah yes, the theory of medium. I have to explain this outlook to my wife (applied mathematics major, nerd) and she doesnt understand that the odds of winning the lottery are 50/50, you either will or you wont. She keeps bringing up statistics and stuff but the theory of medium is undefeated and my ability to annoy her with my bullheadedness is undefeated as well.

LOL. He is also a coach for Stokes team. He would make more as an Assistant than he would coaching.

Michael Bethea is the coach at Rainer Beach. Says he’s been the coach since 1994.
