*** Pete Golding

From our Ole Miss site here at On3.com: Golding was asked about Dabo Swinney accusing him of tampering for now-Ole Miss linebacker Luke Ferrelli. “I’m not offended by anything anybody says,” Golding said. “I get it. I’d be mad if I lost players, too. There was some misinformation, but I didn’t take anything personal. That’s just where we’re at right now.” https://www.on3.com/teams/ole-miss-rebels/news/no-bad-blood-pete-golding-addresses-lane-dabo-as-ole-miss-eyes-another-run/ To track reaction from their subscribers on this article, you can view that here: https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/%E2%80%98no-bad-blood%E2%80%99-pete-golding-addresses-lane-dabo-as-ole-miss-eyes-another-run.8808254/

Couldn't care less what he thinks about anything. Garbage in, garbage out.

Yeah he knows nothing will happen, especially with another conference. If it was in the SEC, Sankey might step in and give him problems, but not us.

I admit I am quite surprised he hasn't said more. Dabo, rightfully, purposely and forcefully called him out for what was obvious, brazen, conduct. Golding has made no attempts to deny or to rationalize it from his vantage point. No spin job. Really no nothing. After being called out in the manner that he was, one would think a sitting head coach or his AD would issue a response or some sort of statement, but they were silent. That speaks volumes IMO.

For the future use on TI, anytime Golding's name is mentioned it should be immediately followed with "is a douche nozzle"

Kinda like when a wife catches her husband in bed with his mistress, what is he supposed to say?

If I were representing Golding I would be pleased. He can’t get caught in a lie or an admission of guilt if he doesn’t say much.

I hear you. I suppose he could start with an apology.

I understand. Just given the manner with which he was called to the mat publicly, I am surprised he issued no response at the time. They were clearly set on trying to let this thing blow over before any comments were made. And they had a window to do just that with little to no media availability prior to spring practice starting.

That’s probably what his lawyers have told him to do!

"I'd be mad if I lost players, too. There was some misinformation." So basically Golding is calling Dabo a liar and accusing him of just being butt-hurt over losing Ferelli.

I think he's a win at all costs douche - that being said, his handling of this is about perfect from a PR standpoint. Really say nothing but word salad and wait for the new cycle to forget about it. . .

The only substantive defense I can recall Golding presenting is that, paraphrasing, Lane did it to us so we did it to someone else. I interpret the Ole Miss response, or lack thereof, as representing the attitude: this is the way it works now unless or until something changes. If so, that's probably not entirely incorrect. Wrong though it may be, in this era of college sports, nice guys will often finish last.

Don't pick a fight you can't win. I agree with @spskillz here. No reason for Golding to rebut anything and admit guilt. Take his lumps and move on.

It says, loud and clear… Everyone is doing it! Dabo gets to jump on the soap-box and be professionally, ethically, and even morally outraged…ok. They remained silent and let everyone else weigh-in and join the sanctimonious mob. They allowed Clemson their outrage while all around the same stuff was going on. Ole Miss’ public silence allows them to quietly remind those, who make the decisions about punishment, what has been done to their program by a former head coach who moved on to a conference, divisional rival….not to mention other programs in every conference. So they will stay quiet. Let Sankey and the suits go to work. And it seems their strategy of silence, while infuriating Clemson, is working on the only stage that matters…
