Yeah, this will surprise nobody. I wonder if UNC parting ways with Hubert demanded an official answer sooner than later..? Time to find out if our GM can continue making good hires. This will be perhaps his biggest test yet.

I highly doubt KU / ad “demanded” an answer from self. He probably knew a while ago and wanted some space to make sure it was the right decision

Goff has done a nice job to date, but this one hire will define and decide his career. Hope he makes the most of the opportunity.

I’m not worried about TG finding a quality coach to hire. He is pretty damn solid at his job. I am nervous though. KU is the top job in my mind but easily top 2 job in the country. Fan support, history, conference, AD, NIL, and will always be the top sport at the school. Facilities are great. Kansas will get a quality coach but that doesn’t mean I’m not nervous about it.

I feel the same way. KU has had unbelievably good fortune when it comes to basketball coaches. The fact we've only had 8 coaches over almost 130 years is ridiculous. I've always feared that good fortune will run out at some point. Even if Goff finds a great coach, it's going to be a tough job to keep up with the combined success since Brown was hired in 1983.

I wrote that completely wrong. Need more coffee. I should have said Self making his decision official, not being told to make it official. Just a guess, but I could see Self doing something like that..

Oats, McCollum and Lloyd. All 3 realistic options if we go away from JV.

I think they bitched that he is the highest paid coach and we suck. It had nothing to do with the actual dollar figure. If he’s gonna win pay him $30 million wtf do we care.
