I believe pope though he had to , to keep the fans on his side if backed off in November or so media and fans would have attacked for backing off a “Kentucky Kid”

For me, the issue is more about staying in the race too long than actually losing him. He was worth pursuing, absolutely, but if you weren't on track to land him in the last stretch, then step away and use his money somewhere else.

No either way main reason I wanted him because I could say pope got the top player by rankings and hoping it’s didn’t end in crash down the road

If we're being honest, Calzada did it way better. I would recommend high interest savings accounts to both of them, probably even an ETF like VOO, but given the two social media posts, Calzada's flex went harder.
