Very interesting Ryan Williams note.....

for those that think he sucks, need to be benched, give NIL back, needs to transfer, etc. Freshman season Julio Jones 58 touches 924 scrimmage yards 4 tds. Amari Cooper 59 touches 1000 scrimmage yards 11 tds Ryan Williams 52 touches 913 scrimmage yards 10 tds Sophomore season Julio Jones 45 touches 600 yards 4 tds Amari Cooper 46 touches 764 yards 4 tds Ryan Williams 45 touches 657 yards 4 tds Junior season Julio Jones 86 touches 1268 yards 9 tds Amari Cooper 129 touches 1750 yards 16 tds Ryan Williams ???? Based off two of the best wrs to do it at Bama, who has electric freshman seasons, both had sophomore slumps, and came back to dominate their junior seasons and were top 5 picks. RW is in store for a major comeback Junior season. Sidenote: both JJ and AC had major drop issues their sophomore seasons as well.

I mean…Julio & Amari were the best receivers on the team, and were constantly the main focus of the defense. Right now, you could make an argument that RW is the 4th best receiver for us…

This is a good post and the stats are interesting. That being said, I don’t think either of these guys had nearly as many drops as RW. He’s so unreliable it’s hurting the team.

Great data. There is no reason everyone should not be rooting their tails off for this guy. Grubb needs to find more ways to script specific plays for him.

If we threw it this much when those guys were here the stats wouldn’t even be in the same stadium.

Statistics hide as much as they reveal. But it is noted. Grubb needs to get a PHD in getting his best playmaker involved early.

They call it a sophomore slump for a reason, but RW has gone non-existent and worse if you compare their drops.

Because we could run the ball. So you would take Ryan over Cooper and Jones? No you would not.

To be clear, I haven’t been overly critical of RW and I absolutely have no desire to see him leave. I hope he stays and turns things around and I believe he will. That said, where are you looking at dropped numbers for the three? I’d like to see that because while I remember Julio dropping some balls, I don’t recall him nor Amari having “major” drop issues. RW drops this year are major.. I’d be surprised if either of the other two dropped balls as the same rate.

I think he’s going to show out next year. That said, where are you getting the drop numbers for the three? I’d genuinely like to see them. I remember Julio having some drops, but I don’t recall either he or Amari having “major” drop issues. RW’s drops this year have been significant, and I’d be surprised if either of the other two had them at a similar rate.

There 1re better options on this team because Ryan leads the team / league in drops thus he is not getting as many targets as he would if he did not have TEN or more drops. We NEED Ryan he is still our best home run threat ... he can take a ten yard pass make 3 people miss and score ...plus if we could trust him he would be returning punts ... but he fumbled against OU in regular season.

valid point but where is the slim reaper arguably, the best to do it at Bama

FWIW: "Jerry Jeudy's drop rate varies by year, with some seasons showing high drops (like his 2020 rookie year's ~18.8% or 2024's league-leading 13 drops/9% rate) but also improving years (~5-8% range)."

That’s reassuring to hear. Hope Ryan tears it up next year!
