Kinda wish Grubb would’ve just said “fuck it” and named a starting QB

if we have learned anything about Grubb it's he's going to spill the beans when that decision is ready to be made. So if one player is winning the job he will let us know :ROFLMAO:

We’re just gonna get this out of the way. Keelon transferred to Texas, and Mack is a bust. Seasons cooked. May as well let you guys know the starting 11 so you can prep yourself. Oh and get ready for Jackson Lloyd to lead our team in receptions.

I like Mack he knows the offense inside and out. The issues with Mack is his overall body control and making off platform throws. See whenever his feet aren’t completely set he’s terribly inaccurate but that can be improved on of course. Against good teams like Georgia you need a guy who can Bryce young that thang (meaning) make off platform throws. They’re not going to let him set up hopefully by that time he’ll be able to just fling it accurately. If not Mr Keelon Russell’s show will begin. The UGA game is the game that will force the offensive politics out the window. Just like the FSU game did last year.

Kevin Riley leaves the team in September after a loss to Kentucky, lambasts the entire city of Tuscaloosa from his youth up to right now on twitter the day of, kills recruiting for a decade.

Did anybody else hear Grubb say twice today “Keelon’s so good w/his feet” and mobility. Never said anything about Austin’s mobility. Just something worth noting

There's quotes from him about both QBs mobility. Referenced Mack's scramble last year but did say that Keelon's feet were better.

He praised Mack’s mobility as well. Said he had a nice scramble against IU and rushed for a TD last year. But also said Keelon is the more mobile of the 2

This battle is so hard for me. Mack looks the part 100%, nothing glaring to be worried about but man it’s just something about Keelon. Either way I’m excited to see how it plays out. My prediction is 11-1 this season anyway. 🐘🐘🐘

Anybody know if the team has a favorite between the two? I figure winning the locker room is just as important as winning QB1.

All I really care about ... whomever wins ths job is likely to be a really good player this Fall. If Keelon wins the job, most likely, he has lived up to the considerable hype. If Mack wins the job, he beat out the "favorite" ... he must've been impressive.

I know its just practice and a couple videos but Mack had some big time misfires yesterday at practice. Keelon isn't immune to those either I'm sure but I saw some rough ones posted on twitter from Mack.

Yep. It really is as simple as that to me too. It sounds like a cliche but “let the best guy win”. You either trust the guys making the big bucks to make this call or you don’t.

This. I doubt there are many teams around the country that have a duo this good at QB. This is good for both of them, and the team as a whole. The staff has done an exceptional job stacking the QB room with talent. It seems like fans tend to form favorites and pull for "their guy" to win the starting job. When all we should be pulling for is the player who is most ready wins the job. The staff can't make the decision based on fear of losing a guy to the portal, etc.

Oh yea I’m not judging these guys off anything I’ve seen so far in practice. I’m still just shocked and surprised at how good they look physically. Learning all the new numbers players have. I still haven’t seen Red Morgan or his new number. In regards to Mack everything I’ve said is still based on last season’s film and stuff. See by sticking to the film you get to see how much these guys will improve throughout spring and A day.

There is a third option but hopefully it goes like you said above. The third is that neither of them is good and we are screwed.

Sure, it could happen. It's actually realistic .... wouldn't be the first time a Year 4 guy just simply didn't prove good enough AND the year 2 guy wasn't ready. Both of those things happen. All the time. BUT ... I dont' consider this third outcome likely. A distant third if we are ranking the likely outcomes. I would rank them: 1. Keelon lives up to the hype. Is awarded QB1. 2. Mack, due to age, maturity and simply being more ready, wins QB1 in a mild upset. 3. Neither are good. Not only is it a coin flip, we see both. They both struggle. (1) and (2) are far, far more likely but (3) could happen, sure.

I dont care who ultimately wins, but I would argue against the idea that "Mack looks the part". He has a big arm, which gets fans excited, but the data set is small suggesting that he can throw with touch, make the right reads, fit in tight windows, be calm under pressure. Of course he can grow in any amd all of those and some of that is only gained through experience. (Of course, you may have literally meant "looks the part" in terms of size, etc. That would certainly be true.)
