1. Have Iowa win the national championship this season and BMC leaves Iowa City to take the job at North Carolina or Kansas. Iowa botches the next hire and Hawk basketball reverts back to the Lickliter era and posts a .500 or less record for the next 15 years; or
2. Let the games play out this year and, win or lose this season, BMC remains in Iowa City for 20 years to potentially build Iowa into a national power?

Number two. I can't handle going back to those Lickliter years.

Let things play out. We may still win this thing. Who knows? BMC for 20-30 years would be incredible to put it mildly.
To reverse the question, would you have traded KF over the last 25 years for a national title in 2002? Lickliter was the worst coach possible. The program itself is not worth a single national title.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I’d much rather compete every year than win one championship. The high of a championship is glorious but wears off much faster than you might think

How about this for a question.
Iowa makes the final four, but ISU wins the national championship.
or
Iowa loses in the elite 8 and ISU loses tonight?

I for one Believe strongly in our coach and believe he raises Iowa to national prominence. This team is not loaded with highly touted 5 star McDonalds All Americans, or Blue Chippers. It is not even stocked with a slew of top 100 recruits.
This year is opening a LOT of eyes! He is to Iowa basketball, as Cognetti is to Indiana Football.
He built NWMS into a Dynasty. He took Drake to their best season ever, and to the NCAA tourney in year 1. With limited time and resources built a team in year 1 that has exceeded all expectations.
Let's see how this season impacts NIL and Recruiting for him, as I believe he can build Iowa into a Juggernaut!!

I would probably pick #2...however, consider this.
If Iowa won the Natty this year, there would be a decent chance that they end the seasons of Nebraska, Illinois AND ISU to do it. That might actually make it worth it
All that said, BMC ain't going anywhere
