Just a straight up epic collapse. I knew we were doomed when he kept saying that 4 game stretch at end of January and beginning of February was toughest any team had faced. Then proceeded to lose all 4 and he just kept using that same old excuse instead of taking accountability and trying to fix the issues. Then he lost 3 of 4 to Miss. St., Ole Miss, Kentucky and Oklahoma. Pathetic.

OP's trolling, but Steven has done an awful job. That's not really debatable. One thing I do know about basketball is that 16-15 is not a good record.

Football finished 13th in the conference while basketball finished 12th. Need to dog walk the AD out of loveliest village.

Part of me wants Steven to have 1 more year with players he actually brought in. The other part of me is pissed at him and Bruce because when bruce retired it put Auburn in a pickle. To me it was extremely selfish and detrimental to the program but Bruce just cared about making it so his son got the job. I'd be fine with 1 more year and I'd be kinda glad we fired him now out of spite and had a true coaching search like we should've been able to have last April if Bruce would've done things right.

I think it’s pretty obvious how this is going to end up. Bruce‘s legacy and Stephen head coaching career at Auburn or full team ahead facing each other on the railroad track.

He will get another year. It’s going to take a lot of money to build him a decent team next year. Will he have those resources? If not, he will be out after next year and we will be searching for a new coach. I hope he succeeds, just like I do every AU coach, but he still has quite a bit to prove.

Cohen didn’t hire SP. That was a calculated arranged marriage by Bruce. 42 days before the first game, he had no choice but to promote a current staff member. Just so happened that there was a staff member with the last name Pearl. Many fans will claim Cohen knew this was going to happen and should have been prepared, but even so what was he suppose to do? Conduct clandestine interviews just in case? And if he did, what coach worth their salt is going to accept a job that might not even come open. However, he should have put the interim tag on him then reevaluated in the off season and conducted a national coaching search. Would it have hurt the program, sure an interim staff is almost impossible to recruit successfully. But the impact of that is much less now with the portal. Once a full time coach is hired he could turn things around fast. I am not saying Cohen should or should not be fired, but I don’t hold SP’s failures against him to a large degree. Just my opinion, which isn’t worth much

I look at how are our franchise programs doing and how has the AD contributed during his tenure. Football is our crown jewel and it’s at the lowest point in 50 years. That’s hard to fathom.

Wait for Rice post to tell you Auburn should still get in. Lulz

Great points and good post!! My simple opinion is, He has made 1 hire in football, and even that one was sort of pushed on him as well. Had an agreement in place with Kiffin then to be left at the alter, had to pivot quickly. When he hired Freeze the large majority of people in the CFB industry said it was a good hire. Obviously we saw the outcome and he took steps to remedy that. I am willing to see what happens in the next couple years. The reason I say the next couple of years is my expectation for 2026 FB is pretty low. New staff, dozens of new players and another brutal schedule. Record might not be better but I can almost guarantee the team will look and play better. You bring up great points, and if he is fired next month I wouldn’t be surprised. But, I am willing to wait a bit longer considering 1 of Cohen’s hires was literally made for him.
