Missouri tries fake punt, comes up short

Looking to provide a spark, Eli Drinkwitz opted to run a fake punt with Jamal Roberts as the ball carrier. However, the officials ruled him short of a first down, and replay upheld the call. That gave Alabama possession right back with 7:02 to go in the fourth quarter.

After avoiding a 3-and-out thanks to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Missouri, Alabama capitalized. The Crimson Tide capped an 11-play, 78-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass from Ty Simpson to Kevin Riley. That made it 7-7 with 6:05 to go in the first quarter.

It took just 2:43 for Missouri to finish off a scoring drive on the first possession. Beau Pribula’s first pass of the day went to Brett Norfleet for a 26-yard touchdown to cap off the six-play, 78-yard drive and make it 7-0, Mizzou.
