CBS Sports shook up its Top 25 QB rankings after Week 5 of the college football season and there’s another new No. 1 signal caller! It’s a week to week type of sport as the top 10 was almost completely changed!

Some quarterbacks stood pat in their ranking but others made huge moves up and others dropped significantly. This is the rollercoaster of rankings!

So without further ado, let’s dive into the latest CBS Sports QB rankings. We start at the top!

1. Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss (+4)

Chambliss is the new No. 1 QB per CBS Sports as Ole Miss rolls into a bye week at 5-0. The Rebels are a popular pick to win the SEC at this stage of the year now.

Chambliss took over for an injured Austin Simmons and it seems like it’s his job the rest of the way. The senior has 1,033 yards, five touchdowns, one interception, a 64.4% completion percentage, 266 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

2. Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt (+4)

Pavia is the next Johnny Manziel, but perhaps without the off the field drama and chaos. If he beats Alabama again this weekend, he is for sure going to be CBS top QB.

He’s on pace for career highs across the board, following an impressive 2024 season. This year, he has 1,211 yards, 13 touchdowns, three interceptions, a 74.6% completion percentage, 294 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

3. Haynes King, Georgia Tech

King remained in the No. 3 QB spot per CBS Sports this week. He’s been a dual threat quarterback for his career, but has really excelled with the Yellow Jackets.

He now has 13 career games with a passing and rushing touchdown. This year, King has 758 yards, three touchdowns, one interception, a 65.8% completion percentage, 380 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

4. Fernando Mendoza, Indiana (-3)

Mendoza dropped three spots in the QB rankings from CBS Sports, but is still a top five quarterback in the country. He’s on pace for a career year in his first with Indiana following a transfer from Cal.

Indiana is also undefeated this season and top 10 in the country. If he can keep it up, this team could get back to the College Football Playoff. Mendoza has 1,208 yards, 16 touchdowns, one interception and a 73% completion percentage.

5. Ty Simpson, Alabama

Simpson looked like an NFL dude against Georgia, even if Alabama was shutout in the second half. The Crimson Tide still got a massive road win.

At this point, Simpson is a top five QB and hasn’t budged yet. Simpson has 1,138 yards, 11 touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 69.3% completion percentage.

6. Dante Moore, Oregon (+6)

Moore hit the springboard and vaulted into the top 10 QBs this week. He’s been impressive all year long and the year on the bench really did wonders.

Oregon is ranked No. 2 overall and Moore is in the Heisman conversation. Moore has 1,210 yards, 14 touchdowns, one interception and a 74.6% completion percentage.

7. CJ Carr, Notre Dame (+22)

Talk about some massive movement in the QB rankings from CBS Sports. Carr has led Notre Dame to two straight wins to get back on track and moved up from outside the top 25 into the top 10!

This year, he has 1,091 yards, nine touchdowns, two interceptions and a 68.3% completion percentage. He also has a score on the ground.

8. Sawyer Robertson, Baylor (+8)

He is well on pace for career numbers after putting in a good 2024 season. Robertson has 1,713 yards, 17 touchdowns (which both lead all of FBS) and just three picks. He’s completing 63.6% of his passes.

9. Josh Hoover, TCU (-7)

Hoover dropped seven spots but remained in the top 10 of the QB list this week. But he only dropped a lot due to massive movement elsewhere.

In four games this season, Hoover has been impressive. He has 1,242 yards, 11 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 66.7% completion percentage.

10. Jayden Maiava, USC (+3)

USC might’ve lost to Illinois over the weekend, but Maiava moved into the top 10 QB rankings. The Trojans have something cooking under center.

Maiava, in his first year as a starter, has been very efficient in Lincoln Riley’s offense. He has 1,587 yards, 11 touchdowns, one interceptions and a 70.5% completion percentage.
