College Football Player Rankings: Cam Ward, Jalen Milroe headline On3 Impact Top 10 QBs after Week 6

Week 6 of the 2024 college football season continued to show the quality quarterback play we are seeing in the sport, at least at the top level. Some of the nation’s top signal callers once again had massive performances on the big stage.
With that in mind, On3’s experts took another look at their Top 10 quarterback rankings, reworking their list and making some changes following this weekend’s action.
There has been some movement, with a few quarterbacks swapping spots and somebody falling out completely. And with how hyped of a weekend we have upcoming, the list could be completely different next week.
For now, you can check out the top 10 impact quarterbacks following a fun and upset-filled Week 6 below.
1. Cam Ward
Ward held the No. 1 spot last week and after Miami pulled off another come-from-behind win on the West Coast, he remains there. Being down 25 points at one point did not phase Ward as he led the Hurricanes to a dramatic win over Cal.
Three total touchdowns came from Ward, two of which were on the final drives. Elijah Arroyo caught the go-ahead score to continue the magical season Miami finds itself in.
2. Jalen Milroe

Alabama lost to Vanderbilt on Saturday but the Crimson Tide offense was hardly to blame. In just 18 minutes of possession, 35 points were scored and somehow kept them in the game.
Milroe was once again incredibly efficient, going for 310 passing yards on just 24 attempts. You can add a rushing touchdown to the tally as well.
3. Shedeur Sanders
Sanders is up a spot from a week ago, swapping places with who is ranked No. 4. Colorado did not even play, though, enjoying their first bye week of the 2024 season.
Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman had nothing but positives to say about Sanders heading into their matchup, saying “I think Sanders will be the first quarterback picked off the board. He should be. In the film that I’ve seen of a lot of the top guys, I think he’s an excellent thrower.”
4. Jaxson Dart
Going on the road and getting an impressive win against South Carolina was a nice bounce-back for Ole Miss. But Dart still fell one spot in the quarterback rankings after personally having a tough day.
Dart completed just over 50% of his throws, going for 285 yards and no touchdowns. However, you have to imagine he will accept a win on the road over anything.
5. Carson Beck

Beck responded to his rough start against Alabama with a great second-half performance, nearly getting Georgia the win. His game against Auburn was even better, being 23-29 overall for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and a huge rivalry win in front of the home fans.
Even so, there was no movement in the rankings for Beck. He remains at No. 5 overall and the third guy inside the SEC.

6. Quinn Ewers
We have not seen Ewers suit up for nearly three weeks but keeps his spot inside the top 10. Texas rolled with Arch Manning and cruised to wins against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State before enjoying a bye week.
Steve Sarkisian has yet to make the move official but Ewers is expected to start against Oklahoma in Saturday’s Red River Shootout. Some movement could come based on his performance in Dallas.
7. Will Howard
At least on the offensive end, Ohio State received its first test of the season going up against a solid Iowa defensive unit. Howard and the Buckeyes have been playing lower-quality opponents early in the season but took care of business in impressive fashion.
Ohio State’s 25 points are the most Iowa have given up this year. While there was an interception thrown, you can live with it due to an 84% completion percentage with 2019 yards and four touchdowns. Howard moves up three spots.
8. Dillon Gabriel

Howard’s rise means somebody had to drop, with Gabriel being the first. He will actually line up across from Howard on Saturday for what should be a great matchup between Ohio State and Oregon.
Gabriel currently leads college football in completion percentage at 77.8% — nothing too shocking considering his experience and the Ducks’ system. One of the big-time transfers of the offseason is performing at a high level thus far.
9. Garrett Nussmeier
Another quarterback who did not play during Week 6, Nussmeier stayed at No. 9. Ever since LSU faced USC in the opening weekend of the year, they have not been tested too badly and Nussmeier has responded well.
Ole Miss now comes to town for a Saturday night in Death Valley. Last year’s matchup was quite the shootout and if something similar unfolds, Nussmeier will need to be at his best.
10. Drew Allar
A new entrant into the top 10! Following Tennessee‘s loss to Arkansas, Nico Iamaleava went from No. 8 to unranked, leaving the door open for Allar to sneak into the rankings.
Penn State had high hopes for the former five-star prospect and experienced struggles at times in 2023. This season has been a lot better for James Franklin, seeing Allar already surpassing 1,100 passing yards and seeing his efficiency increase a considerable amount.
