College Football Playoff Prediction: CBS Sports projects first CFP Top 25 after Week 7

The latest College Football Playoff predictions are here from CBS Sports. They projected the top 25 rankings after Week 7 with the full slate.
The four conference champs from the Power Four are all within the top five seeds, but one does not get a bye. The rest of the slate makes for exciting matchups in the first round.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the latest College Football Playoff predictions from CBS Sports. We’ll start with the top of the rankings.
1. Ohio State (Big Ten Champion)
Ohio State is still the projected top seed in the College Football Playoff per CBS Sports. The defending champs are on track to win the Big Ten this year and claim the top ranking.
Ohio State just beat Illinois on the road, rather convincingly too. This team is arguably better than last year’s champs but there’s still plenty of season left.
2. Miami (ACC Champion)

The Hurricanes have already had two off weeks but are still 5-0 and the projected ACC champions. With that, they’ll be making the College Football Playoff for the first time.
Carson Beck is firmly in that Heisman conversation and he’ll look to keep it rolling against Louisville Friday night. The good news is, Miami is hosting their ACC foe.
3. Indiana
The Hoosiers were big movers this weekend after beating Oregon on the road. Indiana is now 6-0 and the No. 3 team in the country and CBS’ No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoff.
Even as projected Big Ten runner ups, Indiana should still get a first round bye at this rate. That’s how good Curt Cignetti’s crew is playing right now.
4. Alabama (SEC Champion)
Alabama is back in the College Football Playoff as of now as the SEC Champs. Getting a first round bye was not even a thought after losing to Florida State.
But, Kalen DeBoer turned things around in a hurry and the Crimson Tide have won five in a row. They could be the conference’s team to beat now.
5. Texas Tech (Big 12 Champion)

Texas Tech will make the College Football Playoff for the first time based on these projections. The Red Raiders are 6-0 and are in the driver’s seat for the Big 12 title.
They’ll hit the road at Arizona State this week and don’t have another ranked game until hosting BYU on November 8th. It’s the Red Raiders’ to lose.
6. Texas A&M
The Aggies are 6-0 at the moment and rolling under Mike Elko. He could very well lead them to their first College Football Playoff appearance in program history.
They’ll hit the road at Arkansas this weekend before traveling to LSU in a, as of now, top 10 matchup in college football. A&M also has ranked games against Missouri and Texas remaining, so the world is their oyster at the moment!
7. Ole Miss
Ole Miss is also undefeated on the year and avoided an upset at the hands of Washington State. Now, the Rebels travel to take on Georgia this week in what could shake up the race for the SEC.
Is this truly Lane Kiffin’s year and he’ll finally make the College Football Playoff? Or will Kirby Smart halt this awesome run?

8. Georgia

Speaking of Smart, Georgia is right in the thick of things as well. The College Football Playoff and the Bulldogs are nearly synonymous as of late.
If they knock off Ole Miss this weekend, they get Florida in two weeks and no ranked games until Texas on November 15th! The SEC isn’t out of the question either.
9. Oregon
Oregon is by no means out of the College Football Playoff race after one loss. Yes, Indiana came in and stunned the crowd in Eugene, but Dan Lanning and crew were rolling prior to the game.
They’re still 5-1 on the season and a top 10 team in the country. The playoff is clearly in their range, as well as a potential return trip to the Big Ten title game.
10. Oklahoma
Oklahoma had John Mateer return but it was not the best day for all involved. The Sooners lost to rival Texas and have more questions than last week.
Still, this is a 5-1 and ranked squad that is in contention for the College Football PLayoff. But Mateer’s return from a hand injury could’ve been too fast. Or, it was just a blip and they’ll be fine. They have South Carolina on the road this week before hosting Ole Miss.
11. Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech hasn’t been talked about too much in terms of the College Football Playoff. But the Yellow Jackets are No. 12 in the AP Poll and well within CBS Sports’ projections.
They are 6-0 and just keep on winning and taking care of business. Duke is up next this weekend but GT doesn’t see a ranked opponent until rival Georgia at the end of the year.
12. USF (Group of Five)
USF dominated North Texas 63-36 to knock them off the ranks of the unbeaten. The Bulls’ only loss is to Miami, which has a case to be the top team in the country.
Other than that, USF can see their first College Football Playoff appearance within reach through the first half of the season. They basically control their destiny as the top Group of Five team this year.
