Following a Week 2 slate filled with upsets, Josh Pate made some major changes to his Top 25 commissioner’s poll college football rankings. While the No. 1 team stayed the same, there was still quite a shakeup.

Ohio State stayed put atop the rankings after a dominant performance against Grambling State. Quarterback Julian Sayin only threw one incompletion in the effort as the Buckeyes flew to the 70-0 victory.

From there, the commissioner’s poll moved significantly. Here are the full Top 25 rankings, as revealed on Josh Pate’s College Football Show.

1. Ohio State (-)

Staying put atop Josh Pate’s Top 25 rankings, Ohio State didn’t leave any room for doubt against Grambling. All three Buckeyes saw the field after Julian Sayin’s historic start as they cruised past the Tigers at Ohio Stadium.

Ohio State will get ready to take on an in-state rival this week to close out the non-conference schedule as Ohio makes the trip from Athens. From there, it’s off to the Big Ten schedule as the Buckeyes look to make it back to the conference title game.

2. Oregon (+4)

Up four spots from last week, Oregon sought to make a statement last week against Oklahoma State. The Ducks did just that as they blew the Cowboys out, 69-3, at Autzen Stadium.

As a result, Oregon moved up four spots to No. 2 in Josh Pate’s commissioner’s poll Top 25. Dan Lanning’s group dominated in every facet of the game, leading to the surge up the rankings ahead of Week 3.

3. Miami (-)

Following a dominant Week 2 performance against Bethune-Cookman, Miami stayed put in Josh Pate’s commissioner’s poll. The Hurricanes cruised to the 45-3 win, led by an efficient showing from Carson Beck.

Beck completed 22 of 24 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns before handing the keys over to Emory Williams. Miami now has an intriguing matchup in Week 3, though, with USF making its way to Hard Rock Stadium.

4. Florida State (+3)

After a dominant showing against East Texas A&M, Florida State now finds itself in Josh Pate’s Top 5. The Seminoles rolled to the 77-3 victory in Week 2, continuing their strong start to the 2025 season.

Florida State didn’t miss a beat after its Week 1 win against Alabama, and Kent State will serve as a final tuneup before ACC play. The Seminoles will also look to maintain their spot in the commissioner’s poll rankings.

5. USF (+20)

Far and away the biggest riser in Josh Pate’s Top 25 commissioner’s poll rankings, USF has become the talk of college football. The Bulls picked up another huge upset win to start the season as they went into The Swamp and took down Florida in Week 2.

Suddenly, Alex Golesh’s group heads into a ranked matchup this week against Miami. USF moved up 20 spots from last week’s debut commissioner’s poll, coming in at No. 5 before the high-profile in-state showdown.

6. Penn State (-2)

After a sluggish start last week against FIU, Penn State kicked things into gear in the second half to get the 34-0 victory. But the early struggles were enough for Josh Pate to knock the Nittany Lions out of the top five in his commissioner’s poll.

Penn State took just a 10-0 lead into the locker room before finding its stride in the second half. Kaytron Allen led the running game with 144 yards and a 67-yard touchdown while Drew Allar threw for 200 yards and two scores in the effort.

7. Georgia (-2)

Georgia was another team that struggled early in its Week 2 non-conference matchup. The Bulldogs had an up-and-down go against Austin Peay as they came away with the 28-6 win at Sanford Stadium before heading to Tennessee this week.

Josh Pate dropped UGA two spots in his commissioner’s poll, down to No. 7 this week. The Tennessee game looms large, though, as the Bulldogs will go into Neyland Stadium looking to extend their win streak over the Volunteers on the big stage.

8. LSU (-6)

One of the big fallers in Josh Pate’s commissioner’s poll, LSU is down to No. 8 heading into Week 3. The Tigers’ offense sputtered out of the gate against Louisiana Tech before eventually getting the 23-7 win.

Garrett Nussmeier went 26 of 41 passing for 237 yards and a touchdown, along with an interception, while Caden Durham took a team-high 13 carries for 29 yards and a touchdown. Now, LSU will look to find more consistency in primetime as the Tigers welcome Florida to Death Valley.

9. Utah (-1)

Down a spot to No. 9, Utah cruised past Cal Poly in Week 2 in its 63-9 victory. Still, it’s a major departure from the AP poll, which has the Utes ranked No. 20.

Utah got another big game from Devon Dampier against Cal Poly as he went 17 of 23 for 192 yards and three touchdowns. The Utes have another non-conference tuneup waiting this week as they head to Wyoming for a Saturday showdown.

10. Oklahoma (NR)

Another big mover in Josh Pate’s commissioner’s poll, Oklahoma went from unranked to the Top 10 ahead of Week 3. The Sooners got a marquee win under their belt last week as they defeated Michigan in Norman, led by quarterback John Mateer.

Mateer did it all in the victory, throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown while adding a team-leading 74 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. It was an important power conference victory for Brent Venables and OU, who will head to Temple this week.
