College football never rests and neither does Dan Mullen. On Friday, the former Florida head coach posted his hottest picks for Week 6.

Mullen had no shortage of great games to choose from. This weekend will feature four ranked matchups. Not to mention, other battles such as AlabamaTexas A&M and Ohio StateMaryland will commence on Saturday, as well.

With so many enticing matchups, Mullen supplied fans with his betting predictions for six games. Without further ado, let’s dive into the ESPN analyst’s picks.

Dan Mullen’s Week 6 picks

Mullen is a massive supporter of the underdogs this week, picking four dark horses to cover the spread. The 51-year-old didn’t wait to make a hot take on his controversial list.

While both Oklahoma and Texas enter the Red River Showdown undefeated, many fans see Texas as the far superior squad. Mullen doesn’t agree. Oklahoma has won five of the programs’ last six meetings. With Texas handing the Sooners a deafening 49-0 loss last season, Mullen expects Oklahoma to bounce back this year with a vengeance.

The Sooners aren’t the only ones with a chip on their shoulder. After beginning the season at No. 5 in the country, LSU has dropped 18 spots in the rankings. Mullen believes head coach Brian Kelly and Co. will remind the nation of its ability this weekend. LSU must rediscover its defense after giving up 706 total yards to Ole Miss in Week 5.

Mullen’s next pick wasn’t a hot take. Notre Dame has looked dominant this season, with its only loss coming to Ohio State on the final play of the game. Although Jeff Brohm has put Louisville back in the national conversation, Mullen expects Notre Dame to silence the Cardinals’ sweet song on Saturday.

Heading north, Mullen foresees a closer matchup than anticipated in Columbus. On Saturday, Ohio State will face off against a dynamic Maryland team led by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. Although the Buckeyes are averaging 69.5 points per game against the Terps at home since Ryan Day took over the program, Mullen predicts Maryland will keep it within 20 points.

Mullen went with the underdog again in his lone Pac-12 prediction of the week. While No. 13 Washington State is yet to lose, oddsmakers don’t have faith in them, favoring UCLA by 3.5 points. Mullen isn’t with them. The game should be a high-scoring affair as the two teams battle it out for conference credit.

Unlike the battle out west, experts expect Kentucky-Georgia to be a defensive battle. Mullen believes Kentucky will hang tight in this war of attrition. After rushing for a record-breaking 280 yards against Florida, Ray Davis will look to help his ‘Cats churn their way past the Bulldogs.

No matter how accurate Mullen’s picks are, fans are in endless fun this weekend. With the regular season nearly halfway over, college football will reach top speed on Saturday.
