David Pollack broke down one of the biggest matchups of Week 12 in Texas at Georgia, offering insight into each team’s strengths before making his pick on the See Ball Get Ball Podcast. With the College Football Playoff picture tightening, Pollack said the stakes couldn’t be clearer for either side.

“I think the Texas defense is more than capable of keeping them in it. More than capable. They’re a great defense,” Pollack said. “Making the Georgia picks every week, you can kind of copy and paste — 24-17, 28-21 win. Even though they just stomped out Mississippi State. But I just think that when you look at the help, the surrounding help, Georgia’s got the run game really, really going, and Gunner Stockton contributes to that too.”

Evidently, Pollack believes the Bulldogs’ growing confidence in their ground game. He also is a fan of Stockton’s increasing role in it, which gives them the edge in this tight, late-season battle.

“I think you can ask him to do that more,” Pollack added. “And more in big games when you really need it.”

Meanwhile, the playoff implications are enormous. Pollack made it clear just how important the game was for those reasons.

“Georgia wins this, they’re in the College Football Playoff. They’re in,” Pollack explained. “Texas loses, they’re out. If they can still beat Texas A&M, maybe they’re not out. But if Texas wins, they actually can keep themselves in it. Keep hope alive from being pre-season No. 1, newly minted No. 10, which is good. They’ve got a lot of momentum going in their direction. But I’ve got Georgia winning 24-17.”

Oddsmakers agree with Pollack’s assessment. Georgia opened as a 6.5-point favorite at BetMGM, with the total set at 48.5 points. The Bulldogs enter at 8-2, coming off a dominant road win at Mississippi State, while Texas arrives well-rested after a bye week.

Historically, Texas holds a narrow 4-3 edge in the series, but recent results belong to Georgia. The Bulldogs not only beat the Longhorns in the 2024 SEC Championship Game, but they swept both meetings last season, handing Texas a two-game losing streak in the matchup.

For the Longhorns, this game is about survival. For Georgia, it’s one of the final hurdles toward potentially locking up a playoff berth. And for Pollack, it all points to a familiar outcome in a Georgia win.
