Everyone is well aware of the celebration following the Duke’s Mayo Bowl where the victorious coach is doused in mayonnaise. However, as nasty as that may be, the Holiday Bowl is now in contention for the postseason’s most unpleasant honor.

In a photo from Todd Strain and KNSD NBC 7, there is a Holiday Bowl cooler filled with egg nog at Petco Park. According to the latest out of San Diego, either USC’s Lincoln Riley or Louisville’s Jeff Brohm will be showered in it depending on whether the Trojans or Cardinals win tomorrow night.

This would be one memorable way to end Brohm’s first season at his alma mater. The Cardinals sit at 10-3 as the runner up out of the Atlantic Coast Conference this season. While they’ve dropped their last two games, they could end Brohm’s return home on an interesting note by drenching him in the holiday beverage following the win.

As for USC, this could also be a welcome way to close out what has admittedly been a letdown of a season. After starting in the Top-10 and then at 6-0, the Trojans lost five of their final six. While it wouldn’t provide much solace, seeing Riley covered in egg nog after his first postseason win in Los Angeles might at least bring some chuckles as they enter the offseason.

Several bowls are trying to one-up the others with their own unique gimmicks. This one from the Holiday Bowl, though, is right there at the top as far as most shocking or sickening, depending on how you look at it.

Caleb Williams will not be playing for the Trojans in the Holiday Bowl, deciding to forgo the game as he pursues his future in the 2024 NFL Draft. That means Miller Moss will receive the start under center for USC on Wednesday, serving as the first in his collegiate career.

The Cardinals will also be without some of their key difference makers due to the transfer portal and NFL Draft declarations with RB Jawhar Jordan and WR Jamari Thrash both forgoing the game Unlike USC, though, Louisville will have their starting quarterback in Jack Plummer, following his impressive 3,063-yard, 21-touchdown season, on top of their entire offensive line.
