ESPN releases updated FPI Top 25 rankings after Week 11 of college football

In the fallout of another exciting week of college football action, ESPN has overhauled its FPI rankings. Week 11 brought with it no shortage of high profile matchups and star-making performances.
Keep in mind, the Football Power Index (FPI) is a tool ESPN uses to measure team strength as the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. These rankings are the projected results based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, as well as results to date, and each team’s remaining schedule.
That being said, here’s how ESPN’s FPI shook up after Week 11. Did your team make the list?
1. Ohio State
The Buckeyes beat Purdue on the road 34-10 and actually trailed 3-0 after the first quarter. No problem for the top team in the FPI.
Julian Sayin was 27-of-33 for 303 yards, one touchdown and one interception. A 24-point second quarter put this game out of reach.
2. Indiana

A thriller in State College! Indiana remained perfect like Ohio State and made it to 10-0. The Hoosiers edged out Penn State 27-24.
Omar Cooper was the hero as he made the catch of the year in the back of the end zone, securing another Indiana win. Give credit to the Nittany Lions, but the Hoosiers just got it done once again and remained No. 2 in the FPI.
3. Oregon
Oregon also avoided disaster on the road within the Big Ten. An upset minded Iowa nearly took out the Ducks and it would’ve shaken up the FPI.
Iowa had taken the lead with a touchdown but Oregon followed it up with a game-winning field goal themselves. A sloppy game yes, but a gritty win for Dan Lanning and crew, 18-16 on the road.
4. Alabama
It wasn’t the prettiest win for Alabama, but they beat LSU 20-9 at home to improve to 8-1, their eighth straight win. They remained in the top four of the FPI this week.
LSU even benched Garrett Nussmeier and put in Michael Van Buren at QB. Alabama made life miserable for him too.
5. Notre Dame

Nick Saban said to watch out for Navy, but it seemed like no one got the memo. Notre Dame dominated 49-10 to improve to 7-2 on the season and stay in the top five of the FPI.
CJ Carr was 13-of-16 for 218 yards and three touchdowns while the Irish got four rushing touchdowns on the ground from Jeremiyah Love, Aneyas Williams and Hadarian Price. Limiting Navy to 228 total yards, it was a total team effort.
6. Georgia
Mississippi State scored first, but Georgia didn’t let up after that. UGA won 41-21 and cruised to victory by the time they got to the fourth quarter.
Another win, another top six week in the FPI for Georgia. Gunner Stockton threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

7. Texas A&M (+2)
Texas A&M ran away from Missouri in this one, making it look easy as the game progressed. The Aggies won 38-17, improved 9-0 and moved up two spots in the FPI.
Marcel Reed threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns on the road. The defense made life miserable for QB Matt Zollers, who went seven-of-22 for 77 yards.
8. Texas

Texas had a bye week this week and held firm in the top 10 of the ESPN FPI rankings. The Longhorns are 7-2 as it stands.
They have to play Georgia on the road this coming weekend, host Arkansas and then host Texas A&M the final week. Buckle up folks.
9. Utah
Utah also had a week off following a blowout win over Cincinnati. At 7-2, now that the Big 12 saw leader BYU lose, the Utes have a little juice going into the final three weeks.
They have a road date with Baylor this weekend before hosting Kansas State and traveling to Kansas. If they win out, maybe they’re in the CFP picture rather than just the top 10 of the FPI.
10. USC
USC got the win over Northwestern at home Friday night. The Trojans are now 7-2 on the season and shouldn’t be trifled with, as evidenced by being in the top 10 of the FPI.
With Ohio State and Indiana at the top, USC can shake things up if they win out and that would include a win over Oregon. Lincoln Riley might stun some people in 2025!
