ESPN shakes up Top 25 Power Rankings after Week 4 of College Football

Week 4 of the 2025 college football season handed out plenty of exciting moments. Multiple in-state rivalries took place, while a few early conference showdowns shaped how races are going to look early on.
Following the slate, ESPN has updated its Top 25 power rankings. Plenty of movement takes place throughout, particularly inside the top 10. Teams getting bye weeks played a role in where they ultimately line up.
More movement is expected this upcoming Saturday in what should be another great set of games. Until then, you can check out the full top 25 from ESPN here:
1. Ohio State Buckeyes
Still riding high off the season-opening win, Ohio State remains at the top. Not much noise has come from Columbus since then, taking care of business vs. Grambling and Marshall before watching the Week 4 slate at home.
Big Ten play brings the Buckeyes back into focus moving forward. Washington gets a crack at them, looking for a signature win. And until someone is able to take them down, Ohio State keeps ESPN’s No. 1 spot.
2. Miami Hurricanes

Following the win against Florida, ESPN moved Miami up one spot into the top 2. What was a dominant first half in Coral Gables, the Hurricanes settled for a comfortable win against one of the program’s in-state foes.
Mario Cristobal gets an opportunity to rest his team this week, getting a bye on the schedule. From there, another massive rivalry game takes center stage in the college football world in Tallahassee.
3. Oregon Ducks
Oregon finds itself in quite a similar spot to Miami. They are off a rivalry win as well, with the biggest test of the season, to this point, staring them in the face.
However, they are at the expense of Miami moving up one place. This time next week, Oregon might be higher than No. 3 if it can keep an undefeated record.
4. LSU Tigers
One of the more battle-tested teams thus far, LSU is the lone team inside the top-10 to remain at its previous ranking. No movement from Brian Kelly‘s team, which might be expected after facing Louisiana Tech.
Some might argue wins against Clemson and Florida are losing value. Still, the Tigers took down highly thought of teams at the time, especially in the opener. Plus, SEC play continues with a ranked matchup in Oxford.
5. Penn State Nittany Lions

Of the teams inside ESPN’s top 10, Penn State is the lone one not to face a power conference team to this point. The early portion of the schedule filled up with non-Big Ten games, meaning the Nittany Lions cruised to a 3-0 record.
Now, the lights turn on in Happy Valley. ESPN College GameDay will be in town for the showdown against Oregon with monumental stakes on the line.
6. Georgia Bulldogs
A little calm before the storm this week surrounded Georgia. Everyone knows what is to come on Sept. 27, a gargantuan game against Alabama. It’s the first time the Crimson Tide has visited Sanford Stadium since 2015, and first with Kirby Smart wearing UGA colors.

From ESPN’s power rankings standpoint, Georgia dropped to No. 6. Akin to Oregon, the Bulldogs are likely a lot higher in the next edition if they can earn a win.
7. Florida State Seminoles
Florida State possibly went through a scare vs. Kent State, seeing quarterback Tommy Castellanos get rolled up on. Early reports indicate there is nothing to worry about, though. Positive news for FSU going into their ACC schedule.
Since the eye-opening win to start the season, the Seminoles remain in cruise control. The time to ramp back up has arrived, getting some solid opportunities over the next month.
8. Oklahoma Sooners

Two tests into a brutal schedule, Brent Venables continues to come out with wins. Oklahoma got its latest statement victory to begin SEC play, taking down Auburn, after beating Michigan during nonconference.
Not many teams in college football have a better resume to this point. ESPN continues to bump up the Sooners, placing them at No. 8 after Week 4.
9. Texas A&M Aggies
A few teams moving on up means somebody inside the top 10 had to slide. Unfortunately, the culprit wound up being Texas A&M, which did not even take the field on Saturday due to a bye week.
Being ranked No. 9 is no accident, though. Mike Elko got a breakthrough win in South Bend to reset what expectations might be for the Aggies. Plenty of opportunities to creep closer to the top five remain.
10. Indiana Hoosiers
Surprising result of the week might belong to Indiana, even if Curt Cignetti saw this coming. Beating Illinois is one thing but scoring 63 for a 50+ point win is a completely different level.
With this comes the Hoosiers flying up ten spots from last week’s No. 20. ESPN sums up the week for IU perfectly, pointing out quarterback Fernando Mendoza had three more touchdown passes (five) than incompletions (two).

12. Texas Tech Red Raiders
13. Texas Longhorns
14. Tennessee Volunteers
15. Iowa State Cyclones
