Joel Klatt makes pick on Ole Miss at Oklahoma

Oklahoma is favored by 4.5 points over Ole Miss in Norman this weekend, per BetMGM. Both teams come into the matchup with one loss, and are both vying for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
With this matchup having major implications within in the conference, FOX Sports analysts Joel Klatt revealed his pick for the upcoming SEC showdown. Notably, the line has shifted on BetMGM since Klatt made his decision.
“Oklahoma’s favored by 5.5. I did not expect that to happen. I was surprised at this line,” Klatt said. “And I’m sitting there and I’m thinking to myself, a home game with a good defense. Just trust it. Oklahoma 24-21, so here’s what I’m going to do.
“I’m going to take the +5.5 for Ole Miss. I still like that, but I think Oklahoma wins the game 24-21 somehow, some way, because of that leaky defense for Ole Miss. They find a way to win they win it by three. (But I will) take the points for Ole Miss on the road.”
The Rebels’ defense notably gave up 17 points to Georgia in the fourth quarter of their 43-35 loss to the Bulldogs, and were outscored 12-7 in the second half against LSU. The last time Ole Miss outscored an SEC opponent in the second half was during their 41-35 win over Arkansas during Week 3. They outscored the Razorbacks 10-7.
While the Rebels tasted defeat for the first time last week, they’re still a top-10 team in the current AP Top 25 poll. Led by Division II transfer Trinidad Chambliss, who has taken the SEC by storm in his five games since taking over as a starter, it’s hard to bet against Ole Miss — which is why Klatt is predicting a Rebels cover.
For the Sooners, they bounced back from their first loss of the season against Texas by defeating South Carolina 26-7 on the road during Week 8. QB John Mateer threw for 150 yards and a touchdown during the win, but hasn’t been as explosive since returning from having surgery on his throwing hand. RB Tory Blaylock added 101 yards and another touchdown on the ground as well.
