Southern Illinois transfer forward Kennard Davis committed to BYU, he told On3’s Joe Tipton. He averaged 16.3 points per game for the Salukis before entering the transfer portal.

Davis put together a breakout sophomore season at SIU, finishing second on the team in scoring while leading the Salukis with 2.6 assists per game. He also shot nearly 38% from three-point territory as he earned a spot on the Missouri Valley Conference Most Improved Team. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Davis played high school basketball at St. Louis (Mo.) Vashon, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 286 overall player from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Kennard Davis is the third transfer commitment for BYU, joining a class headlined by former Baylor guard Rob Wright, who signed with the Cougars April 10. He checks in as the No. 11 overall player and No. 4-ranked point guard to enter the portal this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.

Wright appeared in 35 games with 21 starts during the 2024-25 season and was named to the Big 12’s All-Freshman team. He averaged 11.5 points and 4.2 assists while shooting 35.3% from 3-point range.

BYU is coming off of a 26-10 finish this past season and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. With last season’s starting point guard, Egor Demin, announcing that he plans to enter the NBA Draft as a projected lottery pick, Wright could step into that role for the Cougars in 2025-26.

BYU also has a talented playmaker coming in from the high school recruiting trail after making a big-time splash. Top overall recruit AJ Dybantsa is on his way to Provo. The Five Star Plus+ prospect is the No. 1 overall player from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, and is staying close to home after playing high school basketball at Utah Prep in Hurricane.
