Earlier this week, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin‘s daughter, Landry, sent college football fans into a frenzy when she announced she’s dating LSU star linebacker Whit Weeks. On Wednesday, Landry only added to the intrigue around their relationship when she posted a TikTok of her driving five hours overnight to surprise Weeks at his house.

In the video — which is captioned “Impulsive decision” — Kiffin begins driving to Baton Rouge at 3 a.m. and doesn’t arrive until 8 a.m. She reveals she told Weeks she wouldn’t be able to come to town for the Tigers’ game against Ole Miss this weekend, but ultimately arrived early.

Naturally, fans flooded the comments with jokes about Kiffin attempting to gain an advantage for her dad against LSU. Alas, the relationship seems to be legit. On Wednesday, Lane Kiffin discussed his daughter’s relationship with Weeks.

“Whit’s an awesome kid. He comes from a great family and glad that those two are happy together,” Kiffin said. “Has nothing to do with the game itself. It’s a really great family and I think a lot of people got to see that with the SEC (Netflix) special where they were hunting with the family.”

Kiffin’s comments contrasted a moment earlier in the week when he’d responded to a tweet about the situation with, “Take the over.” Oddsmakers expect the game to be a nail-biter.

According to BetMGM, Ole Miss is a 1.5-point favorite over the Tigers. Both teams are 4-0 this season, but the Rebels feel confident after dominating a talented Tulane team 45-10 last weekend. Kiffin is excited for the showdown.

“Really excited for this challenge,” Kiffin said. “To play at home and for first place in the SEC and to play a top three team in the country in LSU is an awesome opportunity for us. So, got to continue to have a great week of preparation. These guys probably have the best roster, since we’ve been here, from top to bottom and we’re going to have to prepare and play really well.”

Ole Miss will have to account for Whit Weeks in its game plan. Weeks was a preseason All-SEC First-Team selection and is widely regarded as one of the best linebackers in the country. He finished last season with 120 tackles, the second-most in the SEC.

Only time will tell who Landry Kiffin will be cheering for when her boyfriend looks to shut down her dad’s offense. No. 13 Ole Miss and No. 4 LSU will square off at 2:30 CDT on Saturday. The game will air live on ABC.
