Michigan guards midfield logo after Ohio State wins The Game
Despite losing 27-9 Saturday to Ohio State, Michigan players stood at midfield after the game, guarding the “M” logo. It was in direct response to last year’s flag planting in Columbus, with the Wolverines making sure the Buckeyes didn’t do the same to them this year.
Ohio State players eventually found their way to midfield, but it was to exit the field after Michigan. There was no flag planting like last season, but the Buckeyes certainly celebrated a much needed win over their rival.
After the game, head coach Ryan Day spoke with FOX’s Jenny Taft. Breaking the four-game losing streak in “The Game,” was like a weight lifted off his shoulders.
“Just happy for our players,” Day said. “They worked really hard. I’m happy for our coaches. They worked really, really hard. And we had good energy this week. We had confidence coming in. Many guys played tough. They played physical. We won the line of scrimmage. And I’m just happy for our guys.”

Maybe related maybe not, but Day referred to beating Michigan with humility. Perhaps that’s why they didn’t do any flag planting?
“We’re going to win with humility, and I’m just happy for a lot of people right now,” Day said. “Can’t name them all, but means a lot.”
Ohio State moves to 12-0 and will likely remain No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings. Based on this weekend’s results, they’ll take on 12-0 and No. 2 ranked Indiana in next week’s Big Ten Championship Game.
