Missouri's Mark Mitchell hits buzzer-beater in OT to defeat Oklahoma
In a wild sequence in CoMo, Missouri came out on top. Mark Mitchell pulled up for a three-point after Oklahoma went up 87-85, and it fell as the buzzer sounded – sending the Tigers to the 88-87 victory.
After Mizzou forced overtime with a buzzer-beating shot, the Tigers and Sooners continued to go back and forth. Oklahoma guard Xzayvier Brown hit a jump shot with four seconds to go to put Oklahoma ahead, and Missouri had to go the length of the court without any timeouts.
Mitchell took the inbound and pulled up for the shot as time ticked away. It hit at the moment the buzzer went off, setting off a celebration at Mizzou Arena as the Tigers sealed the 88-87 win.
Neither team was able to get much separation throughout Saturday’s game, with both squads leading by as many as six points. It was tight down the stretch to end regulation, but Oklahoma went up 81-78 when Tae Davis hit two free throws with five seconds to go. However, Trent Pierce drilled a three-pointer as time expired, sending the game to overtime.
As the extra period went along, Missouri did not lead against Oklahoma until the very end. When the Tigers brought it to a tie, the Sooners had an answer. But Mitchell’s buzzer-beater was the difference, helping Mizzou improve to 14-6 overall on the year and 4-3 in SEC play.

Mitchell’s game-winning shot is just his eighth made three-pointer of the season. He had a game-high 25 points in Saturday’s game as he shot 7-of-14 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. He also pulled down 10 rebounds as Mizzou out-rebounded Oklahoma, 41-29.
T.O. Barrett added 21 points for the Tigers while Jayden Stone had 21. As a group, Missouri shot 44.6% from the field, but just 6-of-21 from three-point territory. The Tigers also had 19 second-chance points after pulling down 17 offensive boards and shot 11 more field goals than OU.
For Oklahoma, Nijel Pack led the way with 25 points to go with five assists while Brown dropped 19 points while dishing out a team-high six dimes. The Sooners shot 48.1% from the field, including 12-for-27 from distance, but came up just short of getting a key road victory as they look to get back into the NCAA Tournament.
Next up, Missouri will head to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama Jan. 27. For Oklahoma, a home matchup against Arkansas awaits at Lloyd Noble Center.
