Scooby Williams injury update: Texas A&M LB's status revealed vs. Auburn on Wednesday injury report

While it’s hardly one of the SEC’s most storied rivalries, the Auburn–Texas A&M series has resulted in some real intriguing matchups over the past several years. That includes last year’s four-overtime thriller in which the host Tigers upset the 15th-ranked Aggies, 43-41, in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
This year, No. 9 Texas A&M (3-0) gets a chance at revenge when it hosts Auburn (3-1, 0-1 SEC) in the Aggies’ SEC opener at 3:30 pm ET Saturday (ESPN) from College Station. Texas A&M enters the game as a 6.5-point home favorite, according to BetMGM Sportsbook, with an over-under point total of 52.5.
Of course, the Tigers enter the game with some significant injuries, especially after senior receiver Horatio Fields suffered a broken foot in Tuesday’s practice, according to Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze. Fields is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on Thursday.
“Unfortunately he broke his foot, he’ll have to have surgery tomorrow and that’s a huge loss for us,” Freeze said of Fields during Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference. “He was kind of the leader of that receiver room, who knew every position and gave us flexibility to do a lot of things. A difficult loss.”
The 6-foot-2 Fields, who transferred in from Wake Forest this past offseason, has provided a relatively young Auburn receiver room with much-needed experience through the first four games of the 2025 season, ranking third on the team with 12 catches for 106 yards and one touchdown.
Check out the game’s full availability report released Wednesday:

Auburn is coming off a hard-to-swallow 24-17 road loss at Oklahoma in a game that involved a multitude of questionable calls, including a trick-play touchdown to Sooners receiver Isaiah Sategna in the second quarter. The SEC released a statement criticizing the officials’ decision to allow the play, describing it as “unfair tactics” after Sategna feigned subbing out only to be left wide open for a 24-yard score.

On3’s Pete Nakos revealed Auburn starting cornerback Jay Crawford is still considered questionable after missing last week’s game in Norman. Crawford left the Tigers’ Week 3 game against South Alabama with a knee injury. If Crawford misses a second week, Tulane transfer and return specialist Rayshawn Pleasant is expected to step up for the second consecutive week, per Nakos.
Texas A&M’s passing attack could present the toughest test yet for Auburn’s beleagured secondary, especially with the Aggies dual transfer receivers Mario Craver and KC Concepcion. Craver, a Mississippi State transfer, leads the nation with 443 receiving yards through three games, while Concepcion, a NC State transfer, has 227 yards on 13 catches this season.
The Aggies secondary is also expected to be without a key starter after defensive back Bryce Anderson had to be hospitalized after being stretchered off the field in the first half two weeks ago at Notre Dame. Anderson was able to fly back with the team but is expected to miss several games, according to head coach Mike Elko.
“It was a blessing to have him on the plane with us,” Elko said last week. “It was, obviously, great for all the boys to see him. It was great that he skated through what could have been a really, really bad situation. He is still in the process of recovering. So, hard to guage a timeline right now but we do we expect to have him back this year. Probably just a little too early to tell when that will be.”
