As you can tell, there’s a myriad of fantastic games slated to take place in Week 8. If the action in Week 6 was any indication, Oct. 18 will bring some awesome games from the SEC to the college football world, and we can’t wait for it all to take place.

SEC names Football Players of the Week after Week 6

Meanwhile, Week 6 proved to be another pivotal weekend in the SEC. Following the slate of high-stakes matchups, the conference announced its Players of the Week for Week 6, recognizing standout performances across the league.

The headliner was Florida quarterback DJ Lagway, who took home SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. After an uneven start to the season, Lagway delivered a breakout performance in the Gators’ 29-21 upset victory over No. 9 Texas.

Coming off a bye week, the freshman showcased poise and precision, completing 21 of 28 passes (75%) for 298 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His completion percentage, yardage total, and touchdown count all ranked among the best marks of his 17-game career since arriving in Gainesville.

On the defensive side, Alabama’s Justin Jefferson and Texas A&M’s Daymion Sanford shared Defensive Player of the Week honors after standout performances that anchored their teams’ victories. Meanwhile, Florida wide receiver Dallas Wilson was named Freshman of the Week, giving the Gators multiple honorees after their statement win.

With the season nearing its midpoint, competition across the SEC is heating up. If Week 6 was any indication, the league’s top talent continues to separate itself on the national stage, and Week 8 should be no different.
